We take a look at the Class 3A level to reveal our next Prep Redzone All-State Team.
Several talented individuals graced the football field in 3A this past fall. That includes elite running back [player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"] along with top recruits [player_tooltip player_id="23806" first="Thomas" last="Fidone"] and [player_tooltip player_id="23807" first="TJ" last="Bollers"].
Here is the team:
OFFENSE
Quarterback
Carter Markham, North Scott (2021)
While he might not have posted eye-popping stats, Carter Markham was the perfect quarterback this year for North Scott. He completed nearly 68 percent of his passes for over 1,000 yards with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions.
After a tough loss to Pleasant Valley, Markham led North Scott to eight consecutive wins including a 30-6 victory over Harlan for the state title. He was poised and strong all year long.
Running Backs

Kody Noble, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (2021); [player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"], Grinnell (2021)
Over 3,800 yards rushing and 51 touchdowns were what Kody Noble and [player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"] presented this year. Both are excellent two-way players and easily could have made the all-state defensive team as well.
What separates Noble and Hunter from others is their speed and big-play abilities. Both have excellent field vision and can cut on a dime.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
[player_tooltip player_id="23806" first="Thomas" last="Fidone"], Lewis Central (2021); Ethan Carlson, Norwalk (2021); Connor Frame, Harlan (2022)
It has been a lot of fun watching [player_tooltip player_id="23806" first="Thomas" last="Fidone"] dominate over the past few years. Now, the super-recruit is ready for the FBS Power 5 level. Fidone ended his season with 43 receptions and nearly 20 yards per catch, scoring 10 touchdowns. Ethan Carlson surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and Connor Frame broke out as a junior, averaging 21.6 yards per catch for Harlan.
Offensive Line
[player_tooltip player_id="23813" first="Tyler" last="Maro"], Davenport Assumption (2021); Truman Klein Webster City (2022); Dodge Sauser, Grinnell (2021); Joey Petersen, North Scott (2021); Hughe Doyle, Dubuque Wahlert (2021)
Utility
Jared Voss, West Delaware (2021)
A true dual-threat, Jared Voss racked up over 2,500 yards of offense and 38 touchdowns, including 28 on the ground.
DEFENSE
Defensive Line

[player_tooltip player_id="23807" first="TJ" last="Bollers"], Clear Creek-Amana (2021); Christian Nunley, West Delaware (2021); Nathan Avery, Winterset (2022); Evan Forker, Davenport Assumption (2022)
Linebackers
Wyatt Voelker, West Delaware (2022); Trashaun Willis, Washington (2021); Logan Katzer, Lewis Central (2021)
One of the feel-good stories is Washington’s Trashaun Willis. Born without the lower part of his left arm, Willis not only shined on defense with 37.5 tackles, he was the starting QB for the Demons, helping them go 8-1 overall.
Seeing Willis compete on the football field is quite incredible because he has found ways to get it done - and get it done in impressive fashion.
Secondary
Tyler Olson, Webster City (2021); [player_tooltip player_id="23846" first="Jaxon" last="Rexroth"], Cedar Rapids Xavier (2021); Oskar White, Bondurant-Farrar (2021)
Utility
Caden Matson, Humboldt (2022)
How about this for a junior season? Caden Matson led all of 3A with 2,741 all-purpose yards as the signal-caller racked up 14 passing TDs and 18 more on the ground. Oh, and he also made 67 tackles on defense including 46 solo stops with seven forced turnovers.
In his first full season as the QB, Matson showed incredible skills both passing and running the ball. He should be in store for an even bigger senior season.
SPECIALIST
Kicker/Punter
Oliver Hughes, North Scott (2021); [player_tooltip player_id="23847" first="Tate" last="Stine-Smith"], Adel-ADM (2021)
Not only was [player_tooltip player_id="23847" first="Tate" last="Stine-Smith"] dangerous on offense and defense, he posted an average of 45 yards per punt on 22 attempts. That is how you flip the field.
