Whether it is after touchdowns or field goal attempts, kickers can make or break a game for a certain team. These players certainly helped their team throughout the course of the season.
1. Steven Lopez (2021) | Bernards
2020: 3-4 FG, 39-41 XP
When playing for a team with an explosive offense, there is going to be plenty of chances for the kicker. Lopez was able to cash in on many opportunities for Bernards. He finished as the kicker with the most points in the state. Whether it was a field goal or extra point, Lopez was extremely reliable over the course of the season.
2. Will Grabko (2023) | North Plainfield
2020: 2-7 FG, 35-41 XP
Many kickers double as another position on the field. For Grabko, he was seen on the defensive end in the middle at linebacker. Wherever he was on the field, Grabko was successful. This includes as kicker. North Plainfield featured one of the top offenses in the league which means there were plenty of chances for Grabko and he was able to connect. His game will continue to grow over his final years in the program.
3. Brendan McGonigle (2022) | Ocean City
2020: 3-5 FG, 34-36 XP
McGonigle has an extremely strong leg and that is evident from warmups. When it comes to game situations, he is very calm and this helps him get the ball through the uprights at a high rate.
4. Rikhil Amin (2021) | Randolph
2020: 2-2 FG, 33-33 XP
Amin was able to connect on all opportunities this season. He was a combined 35-35 with most attempts coming in an extra point situation. Randolph was able to put the ball in the end zone and Amin turned it into seven.
5. Nick McNish (2022) | Caldwell
2020: 4-7 FG, 32-36 XP
McNish will be one of the top kickers to watch in the state next year. He put his name on the map this year and that will continue during his final year of his career.
