Boulder Creek tried to manage and eat the clock as much as possible, but Highland’s playmaker filled offense answered back with scores almost every possession. In a Boulder Creek last minute drive, Bear Milacek Bear Milacek 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ was stopped around the Highland 3 yard line, giving Boulder Creek a heartbreaking loss. Both teams strapped up and showcased some serious talent, so take a look at the top 5 offensive players of the game:
Offensive MVP: Gage Dayley Gage Dayley 5'10" | 170 lbs | QB Highland | 2022 State AZ , QB, Highland HS (C/O 2022)
Dayley threw 4 TD’s and proved to be a legit gunslinger to help Highland advance to the state championship. Dayley showed an excellent pre-snap read, as he was able to identify favorable matchups leading to TD’s. He showed good timing with his receivers, as he had numerous throws in stride for first downs. His best play of the night was on a 69 yard deep post to Ammon Allen Ammon Allen 6'2" | 205 lbs | DB Highland | 2021 State AZ to answer back from a Boulder Creek kick return TD. Dayley”s ability to get out the pocket and make plays was impressive, as he was able to scramble out of pressure and throw a TD in the back of the endzone, as well as running for a 15 yard gain late in the 4th quarter on a big 4th down to move the sticks. Dayley has an excellent football IQ and executes the Highland offense extremely well, and will look to get a final win of the 2020 season in the state championship against Chaparral next week.
Jacob Cisneros Jacob Cisneros 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , RB, Boulder Creek HS (C/O 2021)
Cisneros lit up Highland with 3 total TD’s and showed his physicality throughout the night. Cisneros has continued to put up impressive performances all year, which has landed him as a legit D1 prospect. His 2nd TD of the night came on a 9 yard run up the gut in which he showed excellent balance and vision by bouncing off two opponents and then running through another defender for the score. Cisneros was able to return a kick for a TD in which he showed the ability to explode out of his cuts and spring him to the open field, where he displayed good top end speed to take it to the house. He also caught multiple swing/bubbles out of the backfield and was able to make defenders miss and use his speed for big plays. Cisneros had an excellent high school career, and I would imagine the front runner for the Arizona High School Player of the Year.
Ammon Allen Ammon Allen 6'2" | 205 lbs | DB Highland | 2021 State AZ , ATH, Highland HS (C/O 2021)
Allen torched the Boulder Creek secondary as he was able to snag 2 TD’s and approximately 100 yards receiving. On his first TD, Ammon got a clean release on a manned up CB, leaving him about 8 yards trailing to snag a wide open 23 yard TD. His second TD also came on a manned up CB, in which he got another clean release on a deep post and used his speed to take the top off the Boulder Creek defense to catch a 69 yard bomb for six. Ammon was a mismatch against the Boulder creek CB’s at 6’3″ 205lbs, as his size and speed made him an easy matchup to identify on the outside for Dayley. Allen also started the game off at QB in a wildcat and was able to bust into the game with about a 20 yard run around the edge. Allen is another D1 talent, and will have a huge role on both sides of the ball next week.
Max Davis Max Davis 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Highland | 2021 State AZ , RB, Highland HS (C/O 2021)
Davis had a slow first half as Highland only had 3 possessions, but showed his workhorse ability in the second half. Davis had about a 7 yard TD late in the 4th quarter that ended up being the game winning TD. On this score, Davis took a pitch from a speed option, used his speed to stretch outside to set up a nasty cutback to make the DB fall out of his shoes for a TD. Davis showed to be a very instinctual ball carrier with solid athleticism. I watched him truck a LB, then immediately hurdle another defender for a good chunk of yards, when it really should’ve been a 3 yard loss. He is a complete back, as he shows an ideal combination of balance, vision, physicality and very good top end speed for big play ability. Davis is a big threat and a major asset for the Highland offense, and should definitely see a major spark in his recruitment.
Bear Milacek Bear Milacek 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , QB, Boulder Creek HS (C/O 2021)
The New Mexico commit showed to be an excellent game manager with a high football IQ. Milacek led a last second drive downfield, and was stopped around the Highland 3 yard line on the last play of the game. He did his best work as a ball carrier this game, but was also able to sling a couple crucial passes for 3rd and 4th down conversions. He had a 15 yard TD in which he cut right off a Jacob Moore Jacob Moore 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ block to the outside for six. The 1-2 punch between himself and Cisneros was very effective as it led three Boulder Creek scoring drives. He showed good patience for blocks to set up, then utilized solid vision and is a downhill type runner. Milacek shows good physicality as a ball carrier as he was racking up good yards after contact. Although they didn’t pass much, Milacek made his presence known as he showed very good arm strength and solid velocity with a very quick release and was able to connect for clutch first downs.
