The Class 6A-D1 state championship is set for 1PM on Saturday night at UCO’s Wantland Stadium. We’ll see a familiar face in the Jenks Trojans, but their opponent is somewhat surprising after Edmond Santa Fe beat Union in the semifinals on Saturday, making it to their first title game in almost two decades. Prep Redzone Oklahoma has had preview content throughout the week to get you ready for Saturday afternoon’s title game. You can check out all of our content at the bottom of this post. But for now, it’s time for one final article. We take a look at the crystal ball. We’ll tell you what has to happen for each team to win the state title and we’ll make our final predictions!
HOW EDMOND SANTA FE WINS
Two things have to happen for Edmond Santa Fe to capture that first state title. The first thing is they have to control the ball on offense and avoid quick possessions where they go three and out. The second is the defense needs to play lights out and force a turnover or two. Jenks is sound with the football so that’s going to be difficult to do but the Wolves need to find ways to get their offense back on the field and extra possessions could provide the difference in winning or losing. Santa Fe’s weapons on offense are some of the best in the state and they showed last year, during the regular season win over Jenks, that they can put up some points on the Trojans. Santa Fe will want to avoid a low-scoring game where more pressure is applied to the Santa Fe defense.
HOW JENKS WINS
The Trojans can win if they avoid getting into a shootout with the Wolves. While they do have the ability to win in that scenario, it isn’t the best game plan for the Trojans. If Jenks can replicate what they did against Owasso in the semifinals, they’ll be well on their way to title #17. The Trojans need to keep Santa Fe’s offense off the field and more importantly out of rhythm. It would also help for the Jenks offense to get out to a fast start. While it’s not necessary, it would be beneficial if they put Santa Fe in an early hole. Anything to get a little doubt floating around in their minds. But the biggest key to Jenks’ success is forcing short possessions and not letting this Santa Fe offense get into their groove. Once that happens, they’ll be tough to slow down.
PREDICTIONS
MICHAEL – Jenks Over Edmond Santa Fe 24-14
Give me the Trojans to capture their 17th state championship in school history. I do believe it’ll be a competitive game throughout but Jenks having that experience in these title games provide the difference for me. I think that Jenks’ defense will avoid getting into a shootout with the Wolves and their defense will pick up where they left off last week against Owasso. Like mentioned above, if this game gets into a shootout, I think that favors Santa Fe and gives them a chance but if it’s low scoring, I lean to the Trojans to take advantage of their limited opportunities. It’s an safe and predictable pick but there is a reason Jenks is playing in their state record 27th state championship game. I also believe a westside team will win the title eventually but the streak continues this year.
JAKE – Edmond Santa Fe Over Jenks 28-21
This might be the most excited I’ve been for a game all season as we have a monster East vs West battle in Edmond on Saturday for all the marbles. Usually, in games like these, there is one team that comes in with a chip on their shoulder while the other comes in as a heavy favorite, but with Jenks looking to avenge their loss in the title game a year ago and Santa Fe looking to finish the job after being upset early in 2019, both of these teams are going to come out with their hair on fire. Jenks comes in with their long legacy of winning state titles at an unprecedented rate and the more impressive resume on the season with wins over Owasso and a near victory over Bixby, but I like Santa Fe’s playmakers with X-Factors such as

a little more than Jenks’ and think that they will push the Wolves to their first state title in school history.
