College defensive coordinators still looking to feel needs on defense should reach out to these five guys who can wrap up and finish tackles.
Here is a look at five players from the Class of 2021 who were “Stat Monsters” in the statistical category of tackles.
<strong>LB, Cael Lynch, 5’10”, 160, Eudora</strong> – Lynch is a fast OLB from the Eudora. He has a smell for the ball carrier and can chase guys down. He led the Cardinals in tackles in the 2020 season with 156 and nine for loss.
<strong>LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35473" first="Hayden" last="Robb"], 5’11”, 220, Perry Lecompton</strong> – Robb has multiple college offers but has yet to commit. He was second on the KAWS roster in tackles with 130. He is also a solid wrestler so he knows how to maintain pad level and bring guys down.
<strong>LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35504" first="Anthony" last="Hays"], 5’11”, 185, Garden Plain</strong> – The Owls linebacker finished his senior season with 129 tackles. He was also named to the Class 1A All-State team. He has a high motor and is another guy who wrestles.
<strong>LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35476" first="Doug" last="Grider"], 6’2”, 230, Halstead</strong> – Grider led the Halstead Dragons in tackles in 2020. The tall MLB amassed 120 tackles in his senior campaign. He also had two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Grider is uncommitted and looking for offers.
<strong>LB, Logan Davidson, 5’10”, 195, Goddard</strong> – Davidson, another wrestler, squats 445 pounds and led Goddard with 106 tackles. He is also quick accounting for one sack and 11 quarterback hurries in 2020.
