Tenafly: Behind touchdowns from Kenny Uchida, Dylan Meissner and Will Mangasser, Tenafly stayed perfect on the season at 6-0 following Saturday’s 21-7 victory over Cliffside Park. The 6-0 record is the program’s best since 2009.
Brearley: Brearley improved to 4-1 on the year following a 32-21 victory over Kinnelon on Saturday. The team had 361 rushing yards. Danny Ramos ran for 156 yards on 22 carries, scoring on an 18-yard run. He ran with force and was tough to bring down all game. Ramos also scored on a 90-yard kickoff return. Derek Graichen was another force in the run game with 179 yards on 25 carries, finishing with three TD runs. Matt Sims totaled two interceptions and Michael Dotro Michael Dotro 6'0" | LB Brearley | 2021 State NJ made 16 tackles.
Jai’Sun Brown, Asbury Park: In the 92nd meeting between Neptune and Asbury Park, Brown led Asbury Park to its first win in the rivalry since 2009, finishing 15-of-23 for 164 yards and throwing for three TDs. He also got it done with his feet, rushing for 57 yards on eight carries. Asbury Park got a fine performance from Najier Massey, who ran for 140 yards on 13 carries with a 71-yard scoring run. Massey also three receptions for 56 yards with a 22-yard TD catch.
Cookie Desiderio, Somerville: Desiderio continued his strong season with 217 yards on 11 carries with four TD runs, including one of 80 yards. Desiderio has been a leader for a high-octane Somerville offense. He has been a strong running back who is great after contact, and he reads the field well.
Jonathan Lartey, Northern Burlington: Lartey ran for 236 yards on 12 carries and accounted for five touchdowns overall in Northern Burlington’s 45-7 victory over Steinert. Lartey ran in four scores and caught another. He was able to find holes all game, and he showcased his solid cutting ability.
Woodbridge Defense: The Woodbridge defense posted its second straight shutout on Saturday in a 21-0 victory over St. Joseph of Metuchen. It was the third shutout win for Woodbridge this season. The Middlesex County squad has only allowed 33 points through five games.
Lincoln: Lincoln improved to 4-2 on the season after a 22-14 win over Weequahic on Saturday. The Hudson County team got it done in a variety of ways. Shahid Williams returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown, the defense forced a safety, Jelani Ginn-Michael scored on a 75-yard kickoff return and Rahmir Gosa, who led the team in rushing yards with 65, scored on a 6-yard run that pushed Lincoln to the win in the fourth quarter. Lincoln head coach Robert Hampton earned his 100th career win.
Shak Johnson, Newark East Side: Johnson ran for 141 yards on 10 carries and scored on runs of 60 and 62 yards as Newark East Side picked up its first win of the year after defeating Kearny on Saturday in what has been a tough year. The team capitalized on five interceptions, led by Hector Montalvo’s three.
Hunter Van Zant, Boonton: It was another eye-opening performance from Van Zant in this weekend’s victory over Parsippany, as he finished with a whopping 364 yards on 26 carries, scoring on runs of 1, 3, 64 and 65 yards. One of the most explosive rushers in the state, Van Zant has now amassed 1,498 yards and 19 TDs. Boonton quarterback Danny Portas rushed for 152 yards on 13 carries and found the end zone twice.
Hamas Duren, Winslow: Duren threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns in 5-0 Winslow’s 42-25 victory over Eastern on Saturday. Jayden Brown (111 receiving yards and 1 TD) and Shawn Cullen (5 receptions for 102 yards and 1 TD) were big-time threats in the passing game. Emeril Mitchell made 17 tackles and had an interception for Winslow on the defensive end.
