Week 6 brought out the most standout performances in one particular week we’ve seen all year. Take a look at 7 players who got loose during week 6:
Logan Gingg Logan Gingg 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Verrado | 2021 State AZ , RB, Verrado HS (C/O 2021)
Gingg had a monster night with 382 yards on 47 carries with 6 TD’s to upset a tough Ironwood team. Gingg showed his north-south ability and stretched to the numbers once entering the second level for multiple big plays. Gingg did a solid job of bouncing runs outside when stuffed at the LOS to turn TFL’s into 6-7 yard gains. He showed excellent vision and is a hard nosed ball carrier with strong legs and balance. He was able to consistently break and bounce off tackles and was tough to bring down. Gingg proved his toughness and workhorse ability by carrying the ball 47 times, and was able to lead Verrado to one of the biggest upsets of the season.
Andrew Patterson Andrew Patterson 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Desert Edge | 2021 State AZ , WR, Desert Edge HS (C/O 2021)
Patterson reeled in 8 catches for 211 yards and 2 TD’s to beat Sunrise Mountain in a big region game for both teams. Patterson did an excellent job of tracking the ball and showed very good body control. On a 3 receiver side, he lined up as the #2 receiver and was able to run a vert on a switch vert concept down the middle of the field and used his speed to burn past the Sunrise defense for an 80 yard TD. The speed separation was very impressive all night. He also had a one handed catch for 30+ yards and did a solid job of recognizing the scramble to get vertical. Patterson is a major big play threat with huge potential, and the Lara-Patterson connection will be dangerous through the playoffs.
Caleb Jones Caleb Jones 5'9" | 190 lbs | LB Basha | 2021 State AZ , RB, Basha HS (C/O 2021)
Jones ran for 140 yards and 5 TD’s, while catching another to give him 6 total TD’s on the win against Mesa. Jones is a bruiser, and ran downhill all night with solid pad level. He showed very good vision was explosive up the middle all night. Jones did a good job of breaking and running through tackles without losing his balance. He had a 56 yard TD run up the gut in which he ran right through 2 Mesa defenders to then take it to the house. His most impressive play of the night was when he caught a swing pass, spun off a tackle, then gave a stiff arm to take it down the sideline about 39 yards to the house.
Adryan Lara Adryan Lara 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Desert Edge | 2022 State AZ , QB, Desert Edge HS (C/O 2022)
The Washington State commit aired it out on Friday with 359 yards and 4 TD’s on a 26-23 win over Sunrise Mountain. He is one of the most exciting QB’s to watch in Arizona, and loves to air it out to his speedy receivers. Lara threw dimes all night and displayed solid arm strength with pinpoint accuracy. He did a great job of throwing his receivers open, hitting them in stride, and had great ball placement on tough throws. He showed the ability to hit back shoulder throws on a rope and also made accurate throws on the move throughout the night. Lara kept his eyes downfield and did a great job of directing receivers while scrambling to make plays. He showed a good trajectory and touch on deep balls and wasn’t timid to take a hit after release. Lara has played lights out all year, and I don’t see that changing at all.
Jaden Mason, RB, McClintock HS (C/O 2021)
Mason ran for 322 yards and 4 TD’s on 19 carries, setting a new school rushing record. Mason showed good vision and acceleration through the hole. He showed an excellent change of direction by frequently cutting on a dime, sometimes multiple times on the same run. Mason displayed good peripheral vision and has a good lateral bounce to make people miss or get outside, which was crucial in his big play ability. He showed that he can be a threat between the tackles or on the edges. He is McClintock’s key player, and stepped up big to help McClintock snap a 4 game losing streak.
Luis Jaramillo Luis Jaramillo 6'0" | 210 lbs | RB Flagstaff | 2021 State AZ , RB, Flagstaff HS (C/O 2021)
Jaramillo ran for 320 yards and 3 TD’s on 26 carries to beat Lee Williams. Jaramillo has a solid north-south type foundation and does a great job of getting upfield quick on edge runs. He is explosive through the hole and and shows good physicality. Jaramillo has a solid football IQ and field awareness by fighting for extra yards to pick up 1st downs. He displayed good ball security and has an athletic build at 5’11” 199lbs. He is a workhorse back that can wear down a defense and was effective between the tackles and on the edges. He has deceiving yet impressive second level speed, as he made one cut up the middle took it about 91 yards to the house with solid speed separation from DB’s. Jaramillo holds massive potential, and would definitely be a guy to get on your radar.
Logan Hubler Logan Hubler 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy (Queen Creek) | 2022 State AZ , QB, American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek, (C/O 2022)
Hubler threw for 310 yards and had 6 total TD’s in one half of football in a 58-21 win over Seton Catholic. Hubler has very good mechanics with a high release and moves well in the pocket. He showed a good pre-snap read and did a good job of abandoning the pass to tuck it and go on quick developing plays. Hubler showed good timing and delivered accurate darts to his receivers. One small thing that stood out to me was his athleticism to adjust to the snap in shotgun. He was consistently picking up snaps at his feet, on the ground, and moving all different directions just to get the snap and was still able to get an accurate throw off. He has a good self-clock and played like a mature QB on Friday.
