SOUTH DAKOTA- In our inaugural 11-man player of the year award in South Dakota, we had a lot of names and watched a lot of films to get down to the top player in South Dakota. We have a fan vote winner and a scout vote winner in this year’s SD 11-Man POY. Why? Because two is better than one. A similar taste to what you see in the college ranks a coaches poll and a media poll.
THE FAN VOTE
The fan vote was won by Brandon Valley stud RB [player_tooltip player_id="56249" first="Tate" last="Johnson"] took home 37.8% of the 725 votes which shows the city of Brandon showed up big time for the future Augustana commit. Johnson racked up over 1900 yards of offense and 29 touchdowns for the Lynx this season in securing another state championship coming home to Brandon Valley. Johnson is an excellent runner in space and despite not being the biggest running back we’ve ever seen is extremely elusive and very difficult to tackle. Johnson will see a significant bump in our final December rankings for the Class of 2021.

THE SCOUTS VOTE
At PrepRedzone, our motto is not all stats based and that is what makes us completely different from any other outlet. We polled multiple scouts across the network to get our for our final scout’s vote to decide on who the winner is in South Dakota and our decision was:
[player_tooltip player_id="56232" first="Tyler" last="Feldkamp"], WR, Sioux Falls Roosevelt

THE WHY ON FELDKAMP
There is not a better word to describe Feldkamp’s game than the word: electric. Give him an inch he will use that fantastic burst of his and take one for a touchdown. Feldkamp has a phenomenal vision between the tackles and there is not a player that we think can get upfield faster than anyone in the Dakotas this year. Feldkamp also has really fantastic footwork and a juke step that can put an opposing defender on their rear end real quick. Feldkamp has the quickest first step in transition we’ve seen in our first year launching the Dakotas site. Like we said in our initial nominee’s piece, Feldkamp was the only one from our list that is on the offensive POY nominees and will be on the defensive POY nominees which enables him to be a "do it all" type player for his future with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Feldkamp brought in over 800 yards receiving this season with 10 receiving touchdowns.
Congratulations to both [player_tooltip player_id="56249" first="Tate" last="Johnson"] of Brandon Valley and [player_tooltip player_id="56232" first="Tyler" last="Feldkamp"] of Sioux Falls Roosevelt on their awards! We look forward to watching you both at the college level at Augustana and SDSU!
