After missing four games this season, Pezzullo returned for the final game of the season and put on a show. On Thanksgiving Eve, the Lancers were set to take on Lacey on their home field. After Lacey scored the first touchdown of the game, Pezzullo took over. He finished with 163 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. He also showed an ability to act as a receiver out of the backfield.
Pezzullo is a true two-way player for St. John Vianney. Against Lacey, Pezzullo finished with seven tackles and an interception. He is a ballhawk in every sense of the term. The speed and instincts on both ends of the ball is what makes Pezzullo such an intriguing prospect.
It’s also his age. Pezzullo has really made a difference for the Lancers and he is just a junior. He will have one final season in 2021 to really solidify his status. What impressed most about Pezzullo was his vision. The offensive line was able to open up holes and the running back did not miss any. Once he was in the open field, the acceleration made him difficult to catch in the open field. The Lancers know they have a star in the making and that will take the next step in 2021.
Heading into the offseason, Pezzullo will build his reputation as one of the top weapons in the Shore Conference. With another season of work and progression, there is no reason why Pezzullo will not be a must watch player at this time next year.
