When Lloyd committed to Washington State on June 25, Utah was the clear runner-up.
Since decommitting, Fresno State offered Lloyd, but Utah was always on his mind.
“I’m really excited about my decision,” Lloyd told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “I committed pretty early in the process and once I took a step back and really evaluated all my options, Utah was the best place for me.”
“Utah stayed in contact with me the whole time and I really feel like it’s the best all around fit for me. Utah has had so much success in developing their players and especially defensive backs over the years. That’s a big thing for me, I wanted to pick a school that I thought would give me the best shot to make the League (NFL) and Utah can definitely do that so I’m really excited.”
Any school would be lucky if this man 'picked' them.

Lloyd has never taken a visit to Utah, but has remained in close contact with the coaching staff.
“I’ve done zoom calls and virtual tours so I’m not worried about it,” Lloyd told Biggins. “I’m going to sign in December so it’s not like I was going to be able to take any visits with the dead period going through January. Like I said, I’m very comfortable with Utah and I know it’s a great all around fit so I can’t wait to get going.”
Lloyd said that he has developed a relationship with Utah’s cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator Sharrieff Shah. Shah is a former player at Utah and has been on the coaching staff for 9 years.
“I’m really close with coach Shah and like him a lot,” Lloyd told Biggins. “He’s a great guy and a great coach and the school has obviously had a lot of success getting defensive backs to the next level and he’s a big part of that.
“With coach Shah, it’s not just about football, he’s someone I’m comfortable talking about anything with. You can tell he cares about his players as more than just athletes and that’s what I was looking for.”
Lloyd is the No. 19 defensive back in California’s class of 2021 and the No. 99 overall prospect.
