Here’s a look at the key players who could change the final outcome of each game: <strong>Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley at Webster City</strong> <em>Kody Noble, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (2021)</em> Since a 1-2 start to the season, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley has been clicking, winning six in a row including two blowouts in the playoffs. The Nighthawks have relied on Kody Noble to torment opposing defenses. Noble has 201 carries for 1,310 yards and 17 touchdowns, as the senior speedster averages 6.5 yards per rush. He is also a true dual-threat, having recorded 17 receptions for 205 yards and three scores. <em>Chase Rattenborg, Webster City (2021)</em> A standout on the wrestling mats, Chase Rattenborg has turned into another perfect quarterback in Bob Howard’s offensive system. The Lynx senior has thrown for 429 yards and five TDs without an interception while rushing for 744 yards and 10 scores. Rattenborg plays the role asked of him, forming a 1-2 punch with senior running back Trey Mathis, who has over 1,200 yards and 17 TDs. <strong>Lewis Central at Harlan</strong> <em>[player_tooltip player_id="23806" first="Thomas" last="Fidone"], Lewis Central (2021)</em> Lewis Central will be looking for redemption after falling to Harlan, 28-10, during the regular season. And before he departs for Nebraska, you can bet [player_tooltip player_id="23806" first="Thomas" last="Fidone"] wants to do just that. The talented Fidone is one of the state’s top prospects, as evident by his 42 receptions for 843 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. He’s averaging over 20 yards per catch. <em>Aidan Hall, Harlan (2023)</em> Harlan has its own talented deep threat in Aidan Hall, as the sophomore enters the contest with 20 receptions for 592 yards and six touchdowns. Hall, who averages nearly 30 yards each time he touches the football, has also burned opposing quarterbacks with four interceptions. He is a very intriguing prospect at safety, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds with ballhawking skills. <strong>Grinnell at Cedar Rapids Xavier</strong> <em>[player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"], Grinnell (2021)</em> After surviving in the third round, Grinnell will look to get its offense going behind talented running back [player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"]. All the senior has done this season is rush for 2,207 yards and score 31 touchdowns, averaging almost 10 yards per carry. Hunter is also a capable receiver, catching seven passes for 148 yards with three scores. <em>Jack Lux, Cedar Rapids Xavier (2021)</em> Do not be surprised if Cedar Rapids Xavier leans heavily on Jack Lux and the ground attack to keep [player_tooltip player_id="23897" first="Wyatt" last="Hunter"] of Grinnell off the field. Lux leads the Saints with 1,060 yards and has scored eight touchdowns. Lux is joined by quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="23846" first="Jaxon" last="Rexroth"], who has over 600 yards and 17 TDs himself. The two could churn up yards and mow down the clock with a ball-control offense this week. <strong>West Delaware at North Scott</strong> <em>Jared Voss, West Delaware (2021)</em> While Class 1A has OABCIG’s [player_tooltip player_id="23817" first="Cooper" last="DeJean"], 3A has its own talented dual-threat quarterback in Jared Voss. The West Delaware senior has thrown for 1,102 yards, rushed for 1,265 and scored 38 combined touchdowns. Voss is smart with the football, too, throwing just three interceptions on 119 attempts. At 6-foot-2 and over 190 pounds, he does not get taken down by the first defender very often. <em>Carter Markham, North Scott (2021)</em> Even though his numbers might not match that of Jared Voss, Carter Markham has done exactly what North Scott has asked of him this season. The senior leads the Lancers with over 1,200 yards of offense and 15 touchdowns. Like Voss, Markham is careful with the football, throwing just one interception and completing over 73 percent of his passes. He was at his best last week in a 13-10 win over Davenport Assumption, passing for 113 yards, running for 114 and scoring two TDs.
