On Saturday, Morris Catholic entered their season-finale against Whippany Park looking to end the season on a high-note. They cruised to a 55-22 win on the arm of quarterback Dean Denobile. Morris Catholic finished the 2020 season with a record of 7-2.
Denobile finished the game completing 16 of 22 passes for 284 yards and six touchdowns. This was his seventh game with multiple touchdown passes and fourth game with three or more. On the season, the junior quarterback finished with 2,301 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Morris Catholic became a pass happy offense this season with Denobile under center. He is a strong-armed player who can make every throw on the field. Denobile knows how to take care of the ball and make the correct decision. This is an important trait to have heading into his senior season.
On the outside, Denobile has some talented receivers to throw the ball to. On Saturday, Walter Quick led the way with seven catches for 91 yards and three touchdowns. This gave him eight scores on the season. Nick Gonzalez added 53 yards and a score as well.
Zach Thomas capped off an impressive junior season with six catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. This gave him 50 catches for 700 yards and six touchdowns. Thomas will be back in 2021 along with Denobile.
This means that Morris Catholic will have one of the most explosive offenses in the state once again. We got a taste of what these players can accomplish against Whippany Park and throughout the entire season. This makes the team a must watch product come the 2021 season.
