Winners From Oct. 17 Games

Week 3 Saturday’s action brought a lot more excitement and eye-opening performances. Let’s take a look at the winners from around the state on Saturday, Oct. 17. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28012" first="Jaiden" last="Brown"], Southern: </strong>Brown exploded for 240 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries as 3-0 Southern stormed past Toms River North (1-2) on Saturday. Brown didn’t waste any time in the first quarter, scoring on runs of 50 and 66 yards. He later gave Southern a 28-7 lead following a 65-yard run that set up his 1-yard TD run. Southern is 3-0 for the first time in 12 years. <strong>Xavier Hendricks, Southern: </strong>Hendricks had an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first half in Southern’s dominating 48-14 victory over Toms River North. <strong>Logan Conner, South Hunterdon: </strong>Conner ran for 79 yards on 11 carries with TD runs of 10 and 21 yards in South Hunterdon’s 21-7 victory over Manville. He also made a pair of receptions for 28 yards. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27989" first="Ryan" last="Butler"], Bergen Catholic: </strong>Butler had a strong showing in No. 2 Bergen Catholic’s 37-0 shutout of Paramus Catholic, rushing for 108 yards on 13 carries with three scores. He scored on runs of 1, 7 and 16 yards. Butler also made a pair of receptions for 32 yards. <strong>Jake Inserra, Ocean City:</strong> Inserra caught a touchdown, ran for a score and had a 28-yard interception return for a TD as Ocean City dominated Cedar Creek, 45-7, on Saturday. <strong>Zyaire Goffney-Fleming, Haddon Heights: </strong>Goffney-Fleming ran for 148 yards on 10 carries with TD runs of 11, 17 and 23 yards as Haddon Heights rolled Sterling, 42-6, on Saturday. Goffney-Fleming also hauled in a 74-yard TD pass. Haddon Heights improved to 3-0 with the win. <strong>A’Khoury Lyde, DePaul: </strong>Lyde had two interception returns for touchdowns as DePaul improved to 2-1 after a 34-17 victory over winless Seton Hall Prep. Lyde scored on interception returns of 20 and 55 yards. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27928" first="Ahmad" last="Ross"], St. Jospeh (Hamm.):</strong> Ross ran for 143 yards on 12 carries with three TDs as St. Joseph pounded Millville, 56-6, on Saturday. Ross found the end zone on runs of 28, 42 and 57 yards. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27898" first="Shakhi" last="Carson"], West Orange: </strong>Carson ran for 132 yards on 16 carries with TD runs of 31 and 33 yards as West Orange got past Montclair, 35-6, on Saturday, capitalizing off six turnovers on the day. <strong>Jayden Young, St. Thomas Aquinas:</strong> Young threw for 214 yards and five touchdowns as St. Thomas Aquinas had a 54-14 win over Spotswood on Saturday.
