Both teams suffered season-opening losses last week. One team will improve to .500 while the other will fall to 0-2.
The teams last met in 2011, when Hunterdon Central easily won by a 37-0 score. Fast forward nine years and the rivalry will be renewed. North Hunterdon has an 11-1 season to its name since that meeting. The Lions finished 11-1 and won the North 2, Group 4 title in 2017 following a 21-20 victory over state power Phillipsburg.
Let’s take a look at some of the players to watch in the Hunterdon County meeting Friday night.
Christian Solino, North Hunterdon: The junior quarterback threw for a score and ran for one in North Hunterdon’s 35-14 season-opening loss to Morris Knolls, a game in which the Lions led 14-0 after one quarter. Solino can make plays happen, however, as seen when he ran for 66 yards on five carries and a 10-yard rushing TD last week.
Nick Glucksman, North Hunterdon: Glucksman, a junior, got the bulk of the carries last week with 11 for 59 yards. He could be used a great deal in Friday night’s matchup.
Ryan Drwal, North Hunterdon: Drwal made three receptions for 51 yards and a caught a 46-yard TD pass from Solino. The junior was also in on five tackles on defense.
Alex Uryniak, North Hunterdon: Uryniak made 16 tackles to lead the team and had a forced fumble against Morris Knolls. He is a sophomore with a lot of potential this season. Another notable performance on defense came from Austin McHugh, who made 11 tackles and recovered a fumble.

Frankie Lentine, Hunterdon Central: Lentine gets the responsbility at quarterback this year for the Red Devils. He connected on a 10-yard TD pass to Brendan Lehrer in the loss to Phillipsburg last season.
Bruce Washington, Hunterdon Central: Washington is an experienced player in the backfield for Hunterdon Central. He has the potential to make an impact in any game, and he has an offensive line in front of him that should present openings. He scored on a 6-yard run last week against Phillipsburg.
