The Canucks have scored 50 or more points in each of the last two games. They are averaging 40.5 points per game this season and they are doing it behind the big play ability of their skill positions. It begins with quarterback Michael Knight, who has thrown seven touchdowns compared to just one interception this season. He certainly has a ton of options to throw the ball to.
Ahmaad Murkey is coming off a four touchdown game against Spotswood. He is a speedy wide receiver who can create separation then go up and get the ball. The senior is an elite talent on the outside. Joining him is Khan-Yae Stevens. He scored three times against Spotswood, one coming on a interception returned for a touchdown. Combined, the duo has totaled over 600 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.
In a shortened season like this, North Plainfield has what it takes to make a serious run. Their offensive firepower is some of the best in the state. Sophomore Nasir McGlone leads the team in rushing with 29 carries for 246 yards and four touchdowns. He is an explosive runner with a great eye in the backfield. They are set up well, not only for this season, but for the future.
North Plainfield will return home this week to take on South River. They are looking to move to 5-0 and that will continue to build their reputation. Any team facing the Canucks have to know about their offense. It is no longer a secret and the endless amount of weapons are still finding ways to get it done. This is a must watch team on a weekly basis as we head down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs.
