Emeril Mitchell (2022) | Winslow
This was a defensive struggle from the get go when Winslow defeated Camden 15-12. Mitchell was all over the field in this one logging 16 tackles.
Frankie Monte Frankie Monte 6'0" | LB St. Joe's Montvale | 2021 State NJ (2021) | St. Joe’s Montvale
The Holy Cross commit is in for a big season and it began on Saturday. Monte finished with two sacks against Bergen Catholic.
Paul Cosentino (2022) | Hanover Park
What a day it was for Cosentino. The Hanover Park defensive back led the state in tackles in Week 1 with 20 total. This was a huge performance from a ball hawk like Cosentino.
Charlie Sasso Charlie Sasso 6'1" | LB Wall | 2022 State NJ (2022) | Wall
Sasso got it done in many ways for Wall in this one. The junior finished with 10 tackles and an interception as Wall cruised to an opening night victory.
Mohammad Kelleh (2022) | Newark Central
Just 24 points were scored in this game between Newark Central and Shabazz. Kelleh led both sides with nine tackles and two sacks in a losing effort.
Alex Bauman Alex Bauman 6'4" | DL Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ (2022) | Red Bank Catholic
Two powerhouse teams from the Shore Conference met in Week 1. Red Bank Catholic defeated Mater Dei 10-3 on the back on their defense. Bauman finished with one sack and controlled the rushing attack of Mater Dei along the defensive line.
Willie Wilson (2023) | North Brunswick
Wilson was all over the field in the secondary in this one for North Brunswick as they held Sayreville to just nine points. Wilson finished with four tackles and an interception in the win.
Conner Batten (2021) | Woodstown
It was an ugly opener for Woodstown but Batten was a major bright spot. The senior led both sides with 14 tackles in the game.
