So many talented players were on display in a shortened season this year around the state including in Class 4A, District 1. Council Bluffs Lincoln, West Des Moines Dowling, Urbandale, Fort Dodge and Sioux City North all played nearly an entire slate. Des Moines Roosevelt saw cut short with just two games played. Here’s a look at the top offensive players from the district: [player_tooltip player_id="23941" first="Lennx" last="Brown"] - Council Bluffs Lincoln (2021) To have a great season, you need a leader on offense to be able to make the plays when you have to have them. Council Bluffs Lincoln has that in senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="23941" first="Lennx" last="Brown"]. Brown completed over 62 percent of his throws for 923 yards with nine touchdowns. He also ran for 530 yards and 11 scores. What makes Brown so dangerous is his big-arm and quick feet. He averaged over 14 yards per completion, showing that getting the ball downfield is a priority for him. TJ Hayes - Council Bluffs Lincoln (2021) You want a player that can change the outcome of a game with one carry? Look no further than TJ Hayes. The Council Bluffs Lincoln senior running back averaged averaged 10 yards per carry this past year. He has 860 yards with nine touchdowns, adding a handful of receptions to his totals. It’s incredible difficult to average a first down per carry, and doing so at the state’s largest level in 4A shows just how dangerous Hayes is as a running back. Louis Brooks - West Des Moines Dowling (2021) We have come to expect nothing short of college-level talent out of West Des Moines Dowling. Senior wide receiver Louis Brooks is the next in that long line. Brooks has 30 receptions for 495 yards with six touchdowns. He also had a handful of rushes where he was able to show off his athleticism. It will be interesting with where Brooks goes. He has the speed to be a deep threat, but also excellent hands and could really excel out of the slot in a spread offense. [player_tooltip player_id="23823" first="Tucker" last="Langenberg"] - Urbandale (2021) If he decides to play college football, [player_tooltip player_id="23823" first="Tucker" last="Langenberg"] probably has his brightest future on defense. He also could go to baseball with a fastball that reaches 90 on the radar gun. But for the team this past fall, Langenberg has been an unstoppable force on offense. The running back has 880 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 8.5 yards per carry. A true athlete in all the areas of the game. Langenberg has excellent feet, power, speed, vision. Dayson Clayton - Fort Dodge (2021) Injuries hampered what could have been a historical season for Dayson Clayton. However, when he was on the field, the Fort Dodge senior shined bright. Clayton ran 120 times for 901 yards with nine touchdowns, sporting an average of 7.5 yards per carry. If the Dodgers get Clayton back for the playoffs as expected, they could make some noise. He is that kind of player in terms of being able to carry a team to victory. [player_tooltip player_id="23849" first="Dante" last="Hansen"] - Sioux City North (2021) Each time [player_tooltip player_id="23849" first="Dante" last="Hansen"] touched the ball for Sioux City North this year, he made big things happen. Hansen has caught 26 passes for 544 yards with eight scores. That’s almost 21 yards per reception. By being able to stretch the field, Hansen opens up the offense for everybody else. He has good size and would make an excellent addition to a wide-open team. [player_tooltip player_id="23832" first="Jaden" last="Koger"] - Des Moines Roosevelt (2021) We only got to see him a couple times, but Des Moines Roosevelt’s [player_tooltip player_id="23832" first="Jaden" last="Koger"] showed why he is one of the elite players in the state. Koger ran for 409 yards and seven touchdowns on 52 carries, adding nine receptions for 69 yards and a TD. Despite a smaller frame, Koger is powerful and fast. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield makes him an excellent college-level back.
