Brookings Handles Yankton for Top Seed

The Brookings Bobcats hosted the Yankton Bucks in a battle of the unbeatens for top seed in Class 11AA. Both teams had a lot of firepower offensively, so it came down to who’s defense would fold first. Brookings got into a fast pace and Yankton made a lot of turnovers trying to catch up. BHS- Josh Buri Josh Buri 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Brookings | 2021 State 11 yard rush, PAT No Good, 27-0 BHS. BHS- Josh Buri Josh Buri 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Brookings | 2021 State 25 yard rush, PAT Good, 34-0 BHS. 4th Quarter: BHS- Keegan Fields 1 yard rush, PAT Good, 41-0 BHS. Players Highlighted from Brookings: RB- Josh Buri Josh Buri 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Brookings | 2021 State made many big runs using speed and power, if you don’t get multiple guys to him when he has the ball, chances are, he’s gone. WR- Keegan Fields is a good primary target with good speed and route running. OL/DL- Parker Theobald Parker Theobald 6'2" | 245 lbs | DL Brookings | 2021 State made some good blocks for some big seams. Defensively, played big in the backfield with many tackles for loss and QB pressures. OL/DL- Brock Longville Brock Longville 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Brookings | 2022 State anchored the offensive line, good guy to run behind. Defensively also put a lot of pressure behind the line of scrimmage. TE/LB- John Noordsy John Noordsy 6'2" | 225 lbs | TE Brookings | 2021 State made some good tackles in run-support. Offensively was a good blocker downfield and on the line of scrimmage, was also a reliable pass target on key downs. Players Highlighted from Yankton: DE- Cody Oswald played amazing on the perimeter, kept contain and made a lot of solo tackles in the open field. QB- Rugby Ryken Rugby Ryken QB Yankton | 2023 State played most snaps at QB for passing downs, did a great job under pressure and throwing on the run, kept the offense moving. RB/LB- Sam Kampshoff flowed pretty well on defense making a lot of tackles. RB/DB- Trevor Fitzgerald Trevor Fitzgerald 6'1" | 195 lbs | ATH Yankton | 2021 State played exceptionally well in pass coverage, also had some good runs offensively. WR/DB- Aiden Feser also had some good pass coverages, was a good target on offense too.
