Prep Redzone DAK Showcase Preview: RBs and WRs to Watch

When I look deep at our sign up sheet for Saturday in Sioux Falls at our annual Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase, I have become in awe of the talent we have in attendance at the running back position. Our RB1 in 2028, our RB1 in 2027 in South Dakota are both in attendance and there are several RB2s and RB3s in attendance as well. And we cannot forget our ATH1 as surely one to watch for on Saturday hailing out of a West River program that is stacked in the 2027 class. These are my RBs and WRs to watch on Saturday at Augustana!    He might be just a freshmen, but the early looks you get at Rapid City St. Thomas More running back [player_tooltip player_id='2162126' first='Zander' last='Zandstra'] show off good upside upcoming. You can tell early that Zander has sound vision for his age and shows developing instincts getting out of the inside box to create space into the open field. He's also fluid in his lateral movement as a route-runner, as one that can escape around the edges as a red-zone threat. I'll be intrigued to watch how Zander has developed with his route-running on Saturday from the fall season.     A 2028 newcomer to our 2028 North Dakota rankings signed up for our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase this Saturday in Sioux Falls, is making the trip from Grand Forks, as [player_tooltip player_id='1987335' first='Carson' last='Kotrba'] is one I will be watching as our RB2 in that class. He doesn't take long to get to his top speed, as the 5'11 185 pounder shows off quickly that he's one that runs proficently getting downhill. He also shows the patience I look for when evaluating the RB position as Carson is one of the more sizable RBs in this 2028 class that also has great durability for his age, and I am sure there is more to come from an upside perspective running thru contact. I'll be intrigued to watch to see the reps Carson puts together on Saturday in the pass game for sure.     Zach is a name that has been on our radar since he was in middle school at our Prep Redzone NEXT Showcase in Minnesota, and he's in attendance yet again and in my eyes, should be in my top-tier for RB MVP out of this 2028 class out of Minot Bishop Ryan. He's more durable for his 5'8 165 pound frame than he gets credit for and when you add the change of direction that Zach has, he shows that he's a more well-rounded back than those measurables might give him credit for. I love the work-ethic that Zach shows off with the finish he has with his runs on his sophomore tape as a blue-collar back to know in my eyes to watch for on Saturday.     Our new RB1 in the 2028 South Dakota class will be in attendance, as the more I look at the RB group as a whole, this group might be one of the premier position groups in attendance which features Brandon Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='2159871' first='Ryder' last='Mueller']. He's got some of the best vision amongst running backs in this class in the entire Dakotas, and has hit the ground running already this spring with another great recent showcase showing in recent weeks in Sioux Falls. He's another nominee in my eyes in the running back group that could take home an MVP nod on Saturday as I am pumped to get a live eval on Ryder.     Another top athlete that will be in attendance in Sioux Falls at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase on Saturday, will be Spearfish's [player_tooltip player_id='1289261' first='Kade' last='Vavruska']. He's rated as our ATH1 in the 2027 class in what is one of my favorite 2027 groups in the state. Kade boosts excellent length in with his long wingspan and surely in his junior season has learned how to utilize it to his advantage as this young man has grown his frame a ton since he first got on our rankings board a couple years ago. Kade also turned even more of a corner in his junior season getting more yards after contact as you'll see on tape it takes a plethora of tacklers to get this young man on the turf. If I were a Division 1 school recruiting the West River, this young man would be next up on my board in the region.     I said I loved the running backs in attendance right? In our 2027 South Dakota class, we have a consesus Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase alum, that I have started to lose track how many PRZ showcases it has been for Mack. We really started to see even more explosiveness out Mack at our winter Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase as that bar should be even higher on Saturday, with muliple D2 schools in attendance as Mack got his first D2 offer last winter at our showcase from Northern State. Not only is he one of the most durable backs the Dakotas has to offer in this 2027 class, but Mack has constantly been a RB prospect that shows off the blue-collar traits you look for in the running back position based on how he finishes every live rep. He's one that should certainly jump out to the college coaches in attendance quickly on Saturday in Sioux Falls.
