James Marinello, Morristown-Beard – Marinello, Morristown-Beard’s quarterback, scored on three runs in the Crimson’s 28-10 victory over Montclair Kimberley. He scored on a 64-yard run, a 5-yard run and a 13-yard run. He finished with 98 yards rushing on 19 carries with the three scores. In addition, he connected with Dante Marinello on a 7-yard TD pass.
Danny Wersching, Hightstown – Wersching, the quarterback for Hightstown, was efficient in a 24-20 victory at Steinert on Saturday, finishing 15-of-18 for 241 yards with three touchdowns. He connected with receiver Kyle Madden on all three touchdown passes. Madden finished with six catches for 86 yards.
Damir McCrary, Woodrow Wilson – McCrary, a junior linebacker, was huge on the defensive end for Woodrow Wilson, the 12th-ranked team in the state. He had three sacks in the final three minutes, and he forced a fumble that sealed a 34-27 win over Shawnee on Saturday. McCrary finished with four sacks in total.
Dean Bialous, Shawnee – Bialous caught a 48-yard touchdown and intercepted two passes to keep Shawnee within seven points going into the half in its eventual 34-27 loss to Woodrow Wilson.
Emeril Mitchell, Winslow – Mitchell, a Winslow linebacker, made a massive play in Winslow’s upset over No. 12 Camden Saturday night, stopping Camden on fourth-and-goal to seal the Winslow victory.
