Hello to the wonderful readers and subscribers of PrepRedzoneMN! I would like to begin by apologizing for my absence from positing MN content as of late. Things are busy across our Eastern border in Wisconsin and that has been taking up a lot of my time, but since we’ve released every Preseason All-State Team for Wisconsin’s eight different divisions, I can come back to splitting time between the two. Speaking of Preseason All-State teams, get ready for MN’s upcoming Preseason All-State lists for Class 3A, AA, A, and 9-man teams, but before that we need to check out some more studs from our previous releases of 6A, 5A, and 4A lists. One of the last groups we need to cover are the 2022s of Class 5A, and this group is stuffed with talent! Find out which juniors were already named Preseason All-State, which standouts you should be aware of, and who made the included watchlist. Thanks for reading!

[player_tooltip player_id="18441" first="Joseph" last="Russell"] (Robbinsdale Cooper) QB.
[player_tooltip player_id="18433" first="Camden" last="Royal"] (Robbinsdale Cooper) RB
[player_tooltip player_id="18425" first="Mekhi" last="Collins"] (Mankato West) WR.
[player_tooltip player_id="22924" first="Kristen" last="Hoskins"] (Alexandria) WR.
[player_tooltip player_id="49834" first="John" last="Kaczor"] (St. Cloud Tech) OL.
[player_tooltip player_id="49850" first="Ben" last="Laack"] (Rochester John Marshall) OL.
[player_tooltip player_id="18446" first="Jack" last="Teiken"] (Moorhead) DL.
[player_tooltip player_id="49823" first="Austin" last="Altepeter"] (Moorhead) LB.
Standouts Not Named All-State
[player_tooltip player_id="49827" first="Carter" last="Loesch"] (Sauk Rapids-Rice) 6'4, 210 lbs. LB/DE. Picked up a MSU-Mankato offer this summer after camping with the Mavericks. Great frame and covers a lot of ground when pursuing ball-carriers, natural athletic ability, long and fast and ain't scared to hit you.
[player_tooltip player_id="18454" first="Zach" last="Herber"] (Rochester Century) RB. 5'7, 170 lbs. Was having a promising season on Varsity before an injury derailed his sophomore season in 2019. Patient runner with good vision and with some sneaky speed and acceleration.
Cayden Holcomb (Rochester Mayo) 5'10, 170 lbs.. DB/ATH. Will be a three-year starter this Spring for Mayo. Named All-City and All-District. In career thus far has totaled 95 catches for 1,185 yards as well as 45 tackles and 3 interceptions. Big-time sleeper in the 2022 class. Just a natural football player who makes big plays on both sides of the ball. Has great concentration and excels when the ball is in the air. Solid route-running and tackling. Also can LS.
[player_tooltip player_id="49835" first="Charlie" last="Coenen"] (Chanhassen) WR/DB. 6’ 180 lbs.. Another big-time 2022 sleeper. Was named All-District as a sophomore in 2019, as well as the Team's MVP. Recorded 29 receptions for 442 yards and 5 TDs. 3.98 GPA as well. Very explosive player with a fun highlight tape to watch. Reminds me of former Chanhassen now Costal Carolina star Alex Spillum. Smooth, play-making WR with a good vert and some impressive nuances in his route-running. Also has impressive speed and strength for his age and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Shifty, with a mean jumpcut, he should see his stock rising soon.
[player_tooltip player_id="49838" first="Colton" last="Rada"] (Chaska) DL. 6’3, 250 lbs. Has the ability to play on either side of the LOS, and has an explosive first-step off the ball. Nasty and physical, I really like how he uses his hands. Played some Varsity last year for the MN 5A state champion Hawks. Very strong and is continuing to get stronger. Plays with good leverage and a low center of gravity as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="49861" first="Evan" last="Coffey"] (Henry Sibley) QB. 5'10, 180 lbs. Went 31/73 for 306 yards and 2 TDs in 2019. Throws well on the move and has some good decision-making ability.
[player_tooltip player_id="49849" first="Andrew" last="Ali"] (Highland Park) 5'11, 220 lbs. OL. 4.58 GPA. Strong, and plays with a high-motor. Will be a three-year starter this Spring.
[player_tooltip player_id="49844" first="Jordan" last="Shaw"] (Irondale) RB. 5'11, 200 lbs. Solid North-South runner with a strong lower body who runs well behind his pads. Will be a force as an upperclassman.
[player_tooltip player_id="49866" first="Brayden" last="Engrav"] (MPLS Southwest) OL. 6’2 270 lbs. Blocked for one of MN's most prolific RBs last season in NDSU commit TK Marshall, Engrav keeps his feet pumping and is a strong, high-effort kid who will put defenders on their butt in pass-pro or in run-blocking. Loves putting people in the dirt.
David Connors Jr. (Robbinsdale Cooper) WR. 6'3, 180 lbs. Has been contacted by colleges: Eastern Michigan, South Dakota, Kansas State on September 1st. Another intriguing prospect in Cooper's 2022 class who posted 20 receptions for 284 yards and 3 TDs last season. Not scared to make catches in traffic and has some skill after the catch as well. Long-strider with a good frame to add more weight. Cooper has such a good history putting out receivers, and it seems like Connors is next in line!
Andre Reese (Robbinsdale Cooper) DB. 5'10, 185 lbs.
Nicholas Ojile (Spring Lake Park) DL. 6'2, 210. Accomplished basketball player for the Panthers as well. Both older brothers signed with UMD out of high school, and Ojile already has a UMD offer. Started at DE for one of 5A's toughest squads last season and is a strong DE who can get after the passer and also support in the run game. Longer frame and an athletic DE.
[player_tooltip player_id="49876" first="Connery" last="Wiecks"] (Duluth East) WR/ATH. Mostly played JV last season for the Greyhounds, but is an impressive and playmaking athlete who aggressively goes after the football when its in the air and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Ain't scared to hit you either. Should be poised for a big-time junior season this Spring.
Jacob Kelley (Bemidji) WR. 6’3, 190 lbs. Standout track athlete who set a MN freshman record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.82 seconds. Deep-threat WR who made some big plays last season as a sophomore and is looking to have a breakout year for the Lumberjacks.
Blake Haus (Sartell-St. Stephen) OT. 6’5, 240. Big, strong kid who can pull from the OT position well. Also moves well, keeps his feet churning, and has some good natural pop. Relies a little too much on his shoulder and not his hands, and could play a little lower, but he's a legit scholarship potential OT.
