The Hayden Wildcats went 10-2 in 2019 and are looking to make a deep postseason run.
Hayden lost to Perry-Lecompton in the Class 3A State Semifinals last season. The program’s last state title was in 2008.
Here is a look at the talented Hayden senior class which hopes to lead the Wildcats back to a state title contest.
LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35443" first="Will" last="DeVader"], 5’10”, 190, (Ranked 103) – DeVader knows how to finish a tackle. He has made or been in on more than 200 tackles for Hayden in the past two seasons. He has enough speed to be a quality blitzing backer. He plays running back on offense, scoring 10 touchdowns his junior season.
DL, [player_tooltip player_id="35470" first="Jayden" last="Rainer"], 6’2”, 190, (Ranked 131 ) – Rainer, who made 11 sacks in 2019, has excellent closing speed. He lines up mostly at defensive end but could be moved to linebacker.
LB, [player_tooltip player_id="35479" first="Jordan" last="Rainer"], 6’3”, 190, (Ranked 140) – Rainer has a football motor and belongs on the defensive side of the ball. He is a run-stuffing linebacker but had a frame that could add size and muscle to possibly make the move to defensive end. He is still looking for his first college football offer
DE, Tim Wells, 6’3”, 235, – Wells future in football projects on the defensive side of the ball. He is a tough young man to block. He is quick, strong, and has a slow center of gravity. Wells wraps up on tackles and understands how to both defeat blocks and eat up space for his linebackers.
ATH, Desmond Purnell, 6’0”, 205, – Purnell is a north/south runner to be reckoned with. He scored 14 touchdowns in his junior season. Purnell is a very smart runner who follows his blockers and does not try to be cute with the ball. Purnell return kicks and had four touchdown receptions. He projects as a safety or outside linebacker on defense. Purnell has a 3.16 GPA.
TE, Trey Pivarnik, 6’4”, 225, – Pivarnik is a big target with soft hands. He is able to break tackles. Pivarnik is a solid route runner and not afraid to hit people, as a carrier or a tackler. He should be getting looks from NAIA and JUCO schools.
Other Hayden seniors looking to extend their football playing careers are Aidan Colter, Jack Konrade, and Clayton Stephenson.
