With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
Haden Leymaster – Central Decatur
Central Decatur’s Haden Leymaster caught 49 passes for 630 yards and nine touchdowns last year, helping the Cardinals reach the Class A playoffs.
After starting the season 1-4, Central Decatur ran off four consecutive victories, including a 50-12 triumph over North Mahaska in which Leymaster caught nine passes for 183 yards and two scores.
Leymaster also shined on defense and special teams, recording five interceptions while returning a kickoff back for a score and averaging over 28 yards per return.

As a junior, Horrach carried the ball 212 times for 1,007 yards with 12 touchdowns, averaging almost five yards per carry. He also hauled in 12 passes for another 100 yards, helping the Tigerhawks to three wins.
Horrach had big performances in those victories, including a 176-yard, 2-TD showing in a 41-15 triumph vs. Lynnville-Sully.
Payton Weehler – Mount Ayr
You can bet opposing coaches will be planning for ways to contain Payton Weehler after the Class of 2021 standout led Mount Ayr a year ago.
Weehler completed 105 of 187 passes for 1,511 yards with 15 touchdowns. He averaged over 14 yards per completion and finished with a quarterback rating of 124.
On the ground, Weehler added 308 yards and five scores while also making 22.5 tackles on defense.
Isaac Mann – Pleasantville
The Pleasantville offense went through Cale Anthony a year ago, as he ran for almost 1,800 yards and scored 25 times. Now, that role could be filled by Isaac Mann.
Mann, a Class of 2021 prospect, carried the ball 53 times a year ago for 358 yards and scored five touchdowns. He averaged almost seven yards per attempt, finishing second to Anthony on the team.
Also, Mann had eight receptions for 98 yards while recording 49.5 tackles with 14.5 coming for loss on defense.
