There are also many talented recruits that have D1 potential and are looking to lock down that elusive first offer. Here’s a look at a few of the top players in the 2022 class without an offer.
Ridge Docekal Ridge Docekal 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Saguaro | 2022 State AZ , QB, 6’3 190 lbs., Saguaro HS
Saw limited time as a backup last year on varsity but has shown great upside and potential. He has very good size for a young pocket passer at 6’3 190 lbs. Ridge has strong mechanics showing good footwork in the pocket and an over the top release that allows his arm to get fully extended increasing his arm strength. He’s an accurate passer that can make the throws at all three depths and does a good job varying his velocity to throw a catchable ball to his receivers. Should be one to watch as he develops and gains more game experience.
Brayten Silbor Brayten Silbor 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Chaparral | 2022 State AZ , QB, 6’3 190 lbs., Chaparral HS
Performed well taking over the starting role when national recruit Jack Miller (Ohio State) went down with an injury in 2019. Silbor is a good athlete with a strong frame to build on going into his junior year. He’s a natural passer with the ability to deliver an accurate ball both in the pocket or on the run. Also shows he can be accurate when making off-platform passes. Love his ability to avoid the rush and improvise to move the chains. He has a high football IQ and does a good job making smart decisions for a young QB, never forcing the ball into tight coverage. Chaparral has its usual strong talent on both sides of the ball and Silbor figures to grab the attention of more college coaches this season.
Keiyon Turner Keiyon Turner 6'3" | 185 lbs | ATH Desert Ridge | 2022 State AZ , WR, 6’1 175 lbs., Desert Ridge HS
Began to turn heads last season when he had 45 receptions for almost 600 yards and 3 touchdowns as a sophomore. Turner is an explosive playmaker with good top-end speed and strong ability after the catch. Strong and confident hands, he has a large catch radius and does a good job extending his hands and catching everything away from his body. Route running is an area of emphasis for him, while he does do a good job finding space and creating separation would like to see him be more precise and sell his routes more. He will be tough to contain as he continues to improve.
Cameron Mack Cameron Mack 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Peoria | 2022 State AZ , RB, 5’7 180 lbs., Peoria HS
Has already had some D1 interest after starting on varsity since he was a freshman. Had a big sophomore year totaling 1,500 yards and 22 touchdowns despite missing some time with an injury. Mack has a strong compact frame at 5’7 180 lbs. He’s a physical runner that carries the ball with good balance and leverage that allows him to run through first contact. Shows good elusiveness in the open field with good top-end speed to run around defenders and finish off runs in the endzone. In a run-heavy offense, he doesn’t get a ton of opportunities to showcase his abilities catching the ball out of the backfield but did prove to be effective when called upon. Should be a workhorse this season for a strong Peoria offense.
Gage Dayley Gage Dayley 5'10" | 170 lbs | QB Highland | 2022 State AZ , QB, 5’10 170 lbs., Highland HS
A young developing pocket passer that flashed great ability as a sophomore. Continued to show improvement and was the offensive MVP of his Highland team that he led to 6A quarterfinals last season. He’s an all-around good football player that is highly competitive and shows great playmaking ability. His demeanor and poise in the pocket is something that stands out for a young varsity starter, never appears panicked or in a rush. Very accurate passer that locates the ball well and shows good anticipation and timing with his receivers. Displays plus athleticism and mobility avoiding pressure in the pocket and does a good job keeping his eyes downfield looking for an open target. Excited to see how his improvement and growth will impact his recruiting entering his junior year.
