High school skill players spend the spring and summer playing in 7-on-7 tournaments and going to camps that showcase their talent. Top quarterbacks go to the Elite 11 camp and showcase their talent in front of a plethora of college coaches and scouts.
Offensive linemen have similar camps, but they are not as well-covered as quarterback camps because they simply aren’t as fun. It is difficult to judge an offensive lineman based on watching them do drills and do 1-on-1 pass blocking sessions without pads.
It’s about time that the players to give the quarterback the ball each play get some love and attention. Three centers in Orange County have generated recruiting buzz and will be key contributors for their respective major programs.

The Mater Dei offensive line in 2019 was one of the most dominant groups of the decade. Miki-Han is one of two members of that group that are returning this season. The 5-foot-11, 310-pound center is very strong and nobody should envy the poor defensive tackle who has to take a double-team from him and sophomore prospect [player_tooltip player_id="25453" first="BJ" last="Tolo"]. Miki-Han is verbally committed to Colorado State.
[player_tooltip player_id="25164" first="JT" last="Hand"], Mission Viejo, Mission Viejo
Hand is one of several Mission Viejo players who will receive Division 1 scholarships this season. He is athletic for a center at 285 pounds and does a nice job getting to the second level in the run game. Hand has quick feet and a wide base which make it difficult for defensive tackles to get by him in the passing game. Hand only had two offers before committing to Arizona on May 31. His father played offensive line for the Wildcats from 1992-96.

[player_tooltip player_id="25167" first="Brody" last="Crane"], Santa Margarita, Rancho Santa Margarita
Crane joined the multitude of players who left JSerra High this offseason and is returning to his original school, Santa Margarita. He was Second Team All-Trinity League last season and will play for former Cal Poly San Luis Obispo coach Tim Walsh. He was a key part of the successful JSerra offensive line last season which ran the ball very well in the competitive league. He has five offers including Big Sky schools Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. He has an offer from Arizona State as well after being recruited by Pro Football Hall of Famer Kevin Mawae.
