Edina - W, 21-7 over Minnetonka The Hornets raced out to a 21-point lead after the first 11 minutes of the game, which proved to be more than enough points to get the win over the Skippers because of a suffocating defense. Matt Cavanagh, a Harvard University commit, opened the scoring with a 68-yard touchdown run to put Edina ahead 7-0. He added his second touchdown later in the opening quarter and finished with 25 carries for 181 yards in the game. Cavanagh also led the Hornets defense. He tallied 13 tackles and a forced fumble, helping Edina limit Minnetonka to only 253 yards of total offense. Junior defensive lineman Will Davis added nine stops and a sack, while Joe Enzler registered eight tackles. Ottertail Central - W, 34-20 over Breckenridge The Bulldogs used a big second half to earn their sixth-straight win and remain unbeaten with a win over the Cowboys. Nick VanErp continued his stellar senior season, throwing for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 72 yards and two fourth-quarter scores that pushed the Ottertail Central lead to 34-14 before a late Breckenridge touchdown. Receiver Blake Wallevand added six catches for 161 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs, which host United North Central in Week 7. Redwood Valley - W, 7-0 over Jackson County Central After the past two weeks, Matt Lundeen's crew needs a nickname, so how about the Cardiac Cardinals? Seven days after outlasting rival Pipestone Area in overtime, Redwood Valley won a defensive battle over the No. 4 (3A) Huskies in Jackson to remain undefeated. The Cardinals defense was impressive, holding JCC to just 171 yards of total offense in the shutout. Corbin Wabasha and Kaleb Hasse led the way up front, pressuring Huskies quarterback Rudy Voss all game. Voss threw for just 27 yards in the entire contest. Senior receiver Matt Muetzel's 24-yard touchdown catch from Alex Louwagie broke a scoreless tie late in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in the victory. Spring Grove - W, 35-14 over Houston A matchup of two top-10 teams in 9-Man turned into a blowout, as Spring Grove routed Houston for its 20th-straight victory. Senior Alex Folz combined for 393 yards of total offense and five touchdowns (three rush, two pass) to lead the Lions to the big victory.Leading 20-6 in the third quarter, Folz took the Lions' first offensive play of the half for a 73-yard touchdown run to break open the game. Folz's favorite target was Noah Elton, who caught 10 passes for 111 yards, while Caden Grinde and Takota Boyd caught touchdown passes. Defensively, Boyd led the Lions with 17 total tackles. Waseca - W, 42-15 over Jordan Waseca got back on track in a big way, scoring 42 of the games final 50 points to hand the Hubmen their first loss of the season. The Bluejays multi-pronged rushing attack gained more than 400 yards in the victory. Quarterback Hunter Rodriguez and running backs Joe Hagen and Hayden Groll scored all six of the 'Jays touchdowns, with each player finding the end zone twice. The Hubmen led 7-0 after a Bryce Sievers to Ryan Samuelson touchdown pass, but Waseca would score the next 28 points to take a commanding lead into halftime. The Bluejays defense was also effective against the high-flying Hubmen, forcing five turnovers in the road win.
