I was happy to see that Zamarius received an offer from Catawba. Last year at the Gaston County Media Day, I was very impressed with this young man from a leadership and personality perspective. He is just a straight dog on the field as well with his play. Zamarius is not afraid to come up and tackle in space on offensive ball carriers. This is Zamarius’s second recent offer; he also picked up an offer from Ferrum College earlier in June.

Character is off the charts with Zamarius, that’s the first thing I want to say about him. That counts for something, especially in this Transfer Portal era. Zamarius had an offer from the previous staff at Charlotte, and has had recruiting interest from other schools. Zamarius didn’t have as productive of a season from a stats standpoint, but I think that was a good thing as his team was better overall and didn’t need him to make as many tackles from his safety position. Zamarius excels in run support and has the ability to hold up in coverage well against slot receivers and tight ends.

Zamarius or “Z-Man” as he is called by his coaches and teammates had a highly productive season for the Huskies last season. Currently holding an offer from Charlotte, I think Zamarius needs more recruiting attention. As a safety prospect, Zamarius does a good job in run support and shows the athletic flexibility to cover receivers and tight ends down the field effectively. I interviewed Zamarius and his teammates at their county’s media day, and I was impressed with how well-spoken and confident he was as a team leader. It’s rare to see those intangible traits in a prospect, but that was a major plus in my book for Zamarius.
