Zakhi is a 2028 defensive tackle out of Omaha Central that I already feel could be a climber up as one of the better defensive tackles I have seen in this class. Thus far in the 2026 season, he has continued to show that he can get off blocks with forceful hands that have the mix of power and elusiveness I want to see and is distibuting that at a bigger frame, now playing at 6’2 310 pounds. He also shows off effective pass rush moves that really show off from an athletic standpoint that are almost rare with to find with his size and frame. He’s taken a visit to Kansas State already this fall and South Dakota State is up next for him for game day visits this coming weekend as one that I would surely grade as a Division 1 target at defensive tackle.

The Central Eagles fielded a solid defensive line last season with several great contributors, including young guys like Zakhi Branch Zakhi Branch 6'2" | 295 lbs | DL/OL Omaha Central | 2028 State NE , who really started to come into his own as the year progressed. Zakhi ended his sophomore season with 30 tackles, three TFLs, and 1.5 sacks. Zakhi has a good mix of size, standing at 6’2″ and 300 pounds, and strength that allows him to dictate movement at the line of scrimmage. He does a good job springing from his stance and extending to make initial contact; from there, he uses his powerful base to drive defenders off the ball and spill into the backfield. Branch’s sturdiness and ability to anchor down also allow him to plug up multiple gaps and open opportunities for his teammates to swoop in for the stop. Zakhi brings versatility to the interior defensive line, showing he can line up over a guard or head-on with the center. Keep an eye on this one!
