Although his senior season was cut short due to an injury, I still have high hopes for what Carr can accomplish. The senior safety/RB has done both effectively, but saw a lion’s share of his time as a DB this season. He’s got stellar tackling, stemming from his elite wrestling base, and surprising power when tackling. He’s strong in both zone and man coverage, and truly can be used as both a coverage piece and a box safety to help with stopping the run. He’s still looking for a home and could prove to be a valuable secondary piece for a handful of colleges.

Carr is fresh off of a state tournament appearance from this wrestling season. Carr is a former All-State Wrestler and was named First-Team All-District last season as a DB. On the gridiron, Carr does it all for Park. 53 ttck, 4 TFLs, 1 FR, 2 INTs, 178 receiving yards, 211 rushing yards, and 2 TOT. An insane stat line for one of the most versatile athletes in his class. He’s got plenty of tape from his play on both sides of the ball, but I want to focus on his defensive output. On defense, Carr plays an incredibly heads-up brand of ball. He breaks on balls quickly and doesn’t get beat over the top as a safety. When matched up man-on-man, Carr doesn’t give up much separation and shows an impressive trail technique at times. Carr is due for a big senior year in both sports, so keep an eye out.

Carr is a Swiss Army knife for the Wolfpack. Offensively, he is most effective as a one-cut-and-go runner. The junior has good speed out of his cuts. His pad level isn’t as low as some guys. However, he has better power than I thought he would have because of his pad level. The Wolfpack junior can catch the ball out of the backfield. He is also a great blocker – out of the backfield as well as lined up at tight end. He can even throw a pass once in a while. Defensively, Carr plays deep safety but has the speed and football instincts to close on receivers. He is quick to get toward the line of scrimmage to support the run, even though he often starts twenty yards or more off the line of scrimmage. Carr is a three-time state wrestling entrant. His best showing in St. Paul was as a freshman. Carr went 3-2 at State and took 4th place in the 120AAA weight class.
