About Zach
Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Zach is coming off a strong offseason where he continued to build momentum as one of the more productive young receivers in his class. He’s shown steady development as a route runner, cleaner releases off the line, and more confidence working the middle of the field. The growth in his game is showing up in how consistently he creates separation and finishes plays in space.
He already has the traits of a high-volume playmaker, and this offseason has only sharpened his timing, explosiveness, and overall understanding of how to attack different coverages. Defenders struggle with his quickness and ability to adjust after the catch, making him a constant threat every time he touches the ball.
Recruiting interest reflects that upward trend with multiple offers from North Carolina, Missouri, Arizona, Houston, Oregon, and more. Zach is trending in the right direction and continues to separate himself as a name to watch in the 2029 WR group.

Zach Williams was one of the youngest players in attendance, but it didn’t show at all. As a 2029 receiver, just being able to hold his own would’ve been enough — but Zach went a step further. He didn’t just show up to participate; he showed up to compete. Rep after rep, he was giving full effort, pushing through fatigue, and making it clear he belonged on the field with older athletes. Early in the event, he appeared to be battling through something physically and made a quick stop to the trainer. A lot of players in his shoes might have called it a day, but not Zach. He shook it off and got right back out there, determined to keep showing what he could do. That type of toughness and commitment at such a young age says a lot about his makeup. Zach’s routes were sharp, and his motor never dipped — whether it was a warmup drill or a rep in front of coaches, he gave it the same intensity. He left a strong impression not just because of his skill set, but because of how badly he wanted to be out there.

Zach Williams was one of the youngest players at the entire event, but you wouldn’t have known it based on the way he performed. As a 2029 prospect, he was going up against guys two or three years older — and in some cases, much bigger — but still managed to get open over and over again. He showed zero hesitation. His confidence was obvious from the moment he lined up. What really stood out was his footwork. He ran routes with precision and urgency, getting in and out of his breaks with quickness that caught the DBs off guard. His burst out of cuts created enough separation to give quarterbacks a window, and more often than not, he was there to finish the play. His hands looked steady all day, and even though his frame is still developing, he already has a knack for positioning and body control. As he continues to grow physically, that catch radius will only expand, and it’s scary to think about what that could mean for his upside. For such a young athlete to already show this kind of polish and competitive edge — that’s a name you circle and keep tabs on. The tools are real, and the confidence matches them.

Williams was the smallest player on the field at the UA Next 8th Grade All-American Game, listed on the roster at just 5-foot-5 and 130-pounds. While he doesn’t have All-American size as of January 2025, he certainly checks the All-American box in terms of speed, quickness and most of all–route running. The Hays Middle School product is uber twitchy and can shake defenders worse than an Allen Iverson crossover. His sudden movements and ability to change direction on a dime, make him a menace when creating after after the catch.

There is something to be said about a kid who simply wants it more than everybody else. Williams, like other receivers on this list, is a great contested catch threat. But unlike everyone else, he isn’t taller than the defenders he’s facing, on a level playing field Williams is still able to snatch passes out of the air. Williams showcases heart on every rep he takes, whether it be making a great catch on a 50/50 ball, or breaking two or three tackles after he inevitably catches it. Football above all else is a game of want, because whomever wants it more than their opponent is typically the one who prevails. Williams showcases that want and desire to be great, an underrated quality among spectators, but a trait that any coach would adore. Williams has great route running ability and pure athleticism on top of his gritty and hard nose style of play, a true dream for any coach in the Dallas/ Fort Worth region.
