Pretty cool to see Yariel Cruz’s commitment to Stevenson University come across my feed yesterday, the Blue Ridge prospect is shining. While this may not be entirely true it feels since he earned a top performer spot at our Spring Showcase, Cruz’s star recognition has taken flight. He is having an excellent senior season and looks poised to play as a freshman. Congrats to

Began to notice the potential of this young man at our Spring Showcase and it looks like his senior year is off to a great start. While his Blue Ridge squad is 2-0 the senor picked up an offer from Coach Montanez and Stevenson University. I know Coach liked what he saw at our showcase too not surprised to see the Mustangs pull the trigger. He is so quick off the snap and would fit well in Stevenson’s offense.

Watch Listed a year ago Yariel Cruz is a speedy wideout who caught everything at our Spring showcase. Cruz will certainly be ranked as he poised for a monster season with Blue Ridge.

Another walk in Blue Ridge Yariel Cruz was fun to watch in Charlottesville. A bit raw but you can see the track speed and footwork on full display below. Cruz earned a top performer spot with his route running and testing results. Running a 4.66 40 and 9’0 broad jump, the rising senior could have 60 plus receptions this fall.

A new name for me. I didn’t know which prospects were walk-ups and which were registered beforehand, so seeing Yariel Cruz light up competition was a surprise for me. I came to eventually learn that Cruz arrived with his crop of Blue Ridge teammates. I learned about his prowess on the track too. Cruz’s stride was on display, yet you come to expect that from 55/100/200M sprinters. What I didn’t expect to see was the subtleties displayed throughout his routes. An acute attention to detail was paid, this young man has a clear understanding of leverage and defensive zone concepts, often making out-of-place defenders look silly in 1v1s. Cruz can eat up cushion in a hurry, Cruz can step on the toes of DBs in a flash, a good get-off at the snap can help in this area. An accelerator out of his breaks. What flashed most was Cruz’s ability to adjust to the football on it’s descent, as well as his pure soft hands. I wasn’t expecting to see such a seasoned player, Cruz earned all praise given during and after the event.
9’0 Broad Jump, 4.66 40 time (HT).
Wish I recorded a bit more of @YarielOCruz.
Below are four clips out of the Blue Ridge WR, yet he was moving like this ALL CAMP. https://t.co/e4QqeWwbgO pic.twitter.com/HEh0K279RI

Yariel has limited film available, but he shows good speed on the field and has the potential to be a weapon for Blue Ridge’s offense. He played on special teams in 2023 and looks to grow his role next season. Also competes in basketball and track at Blue Ridge. Be sure to give him a follow as he will be one to watch develop in his athletic career at Blue Ridge.
