Expert Analysis
Zack Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
McZeal broke out as one of the most explosive playmakers in Nevada’s 2028 class with his strong sophomore campaign for Palo Verde. The 5’9″/145 two-way standout totaled just under 600 receiving yards and 11 TDs on offense and 39 tackles on defense last season. He’s a fast, twitched-up WR and a smooth, easy separator as a route runner with his ability to mix up tempo/pacing and elite start-stop quickness. He’s deceptive and creative in his releases, possesses the speed to out-pace defenders as a vertical threat, and shows great body control adjusting to the ball. McZeal is on the smaller side at this stage, but his athletic skillset offers major upside that should generate interest from D-I programs.

McZeal is putting his name on the radar as one of Nevada’s rising two-way skill guys in the state’s 2028 class. The sophomore WR/DB has 8 catches for 236 yards and 4 TDs through Palo Verde’s first two games of the season including a 3-TD performance in his varsity debut. He’s a lean, twitchy athlete that can create separation with his ability to change speeds and come out of his breaks with noticeable burst and acceleration. He’s raw at CB but has flashed some promising physicality and open-field tackling. McZeal is showing great upside in his playmaking ability and athleticism early into his varsity career.
