Fleming is an impactful edge-rushing outside linebacker, bringing a combination of instincts, athleticism, and physical attributes to the football field. One of his notable strengths is his discipline when facing read-option plays. He remains composed, avoids being fooled by misdirection, and consistently stays at home, ensuring he makes the proper play. His ability to recognize plays quickly and fire downhill showcases a football IQ, effectively allowing him to disrupt plays in the backfield. Fleming’s ability to take away the backside cut is a testament to his awareness and anticipation. This limits the options for ball carriers and positions him as a reliable defender against plays designed to exploit the edge. His ability to seal edges prevents runners from getting the corner as he maintains containment. His twitchy athleticism adds another layer to his game, allowing him to react quickly and decisively. His ability to make a sure tackle emphasizes his reliability as a tackler, consistently finishing plays and preventing yards after contact. A combination of long arms and good size adds to Fleming’s physical stature. These attributes contribute to his effectiveness in shedding blocks, disrupting passing lanes, and providing a challenging obstacle for offensive linemen and ball carriers.

DL8 and #34 overall in the recently updated 2025 PRzMN rankings comes out of Park Center High School and their stud sophomore DL Xavier Fleming. The 6’2, 205 lb. DE only played in four games this past season but tallied 20 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 3 sacks, and on tape the first thing that stands out is how Fleming runs. Watching him run down plays from the backside and burst out of a dead stop through contact to make a play is impressive, and I also like how he can change direction and use some quickness to beat blockers to their inside shoulder. The 205 lber. also has some solid reps of him backing down bigger OL in pass pro. His frame looks like it’ll be able to hold more weight well so I hope the Park Center product is working on packing on the pounds and adding mass and strength this offseason. 2023 is going to be big for him.
