At first you have to talk about the damage Xavien did in the Columbus return game over the first couple of weeks of the season. I counted two returns that went for a touchdown and especially the second return, it wasn’t an easy path to find the end zone especially with the vison, explosiveness, and durability that Xavien had to display. This young man is a three-way weapon all sides of the ball that is really instinctive for his age no matter what play you are grading him on positionally. He sits as ATH6 in thie class, but absoulutely should move up in the 2028 Nebraska rankings here very soon.

Columbus’ Xavien Lopez Long Xavien Lopez Long 5'10" | 180 lbs | /ATH Columbus | 2028 State NE has been on our radar since a standout performance at our PRZ showcase in his freshman season and has continued to develop nicely now going into his junior year. In seven games played, Xavien recorded 25 tackles, three interceptions, and two TFLs while starting at CB. When watching Xavien’s tape, I was impressed with how sound and instinctive he is in coverage. He is very smooth through his backpedal with loose hips and sharp agility that help him quickly change direction while sticking with receivers. Nice fluidity in coverage. When in zone, he does a great job identifying route concepts and diagnosing plays to get to a spot where he can make plays. Once he gets to the ball, Xavien displays solid ball skills, including playing through a receiver’s hands to force breakups or showing off his own receiving ability to force interceptions. He’s also a willing run defender who can fight off blocks on the perimeter and can make tackles in space to prevent big runs. Solid lockdown corner who could fit well in the slot at the collegiate level. Lots to like about Xavien’s upside!

Columbus’ Xavien Lopez Long Xavien Lopez Long 5'10" | 180 lbs | /ATH Columbus | 2028 State NE jumped onto our radar at the Combine Series showcase, where he had a strong overall performance and solidified himself as a legit prospect to know moving forward. Xavien started with a great combine performance, posting marks of 4.84 40-yard dash, 4.44 shuttle drill, 8’5″ broad jump, and a 7.59 L-drill. This quickness and agility transferred over to his reps, where he displayed his stop/start ability when going into his breaks and his sharpness when changing directions. Xavien’s strong hands and great concentration also stood out, especially when making plays through contact. Spring stock-riser!
