Before watching him play against St. Frances Academy, I wasn’t aware he was committed to the University of West Virginia. As I mentioned in another article, Flamer made a lot of tackles against SFA. After the first quarter, STJ did a solid job limiting big plays in the running game. There wasn’t a lot going through the middle of STJ’s defense, and Flamer was one of the big reasons why.

Flamer was the most consistent run defender. He came unblocked and stopped an SFA running back near the line on the first possession. Flamer assisted on another short tackle, met the back in the hole on another play, and stopped another short run. His fills repeatedly limited early gains and forced longer-yardage situations.

The 11v1 reps I saw of Flamer involved deep routes (specifically out-and-up routes). He showed strong closing speed in one of the reps and covered a lot of ground as he met the running back at the ball 20-25 yards downfield (incompletion). Always impressed with a linebacker that can break up passes at the watchpoint. Thought he did a nice job of not peeking early in the reps that I watched. I thought he looked comfortable in space against vertical routes.

Nothing has slowed the Westfield Bulldogs to start the 2025 season, they handled Fairfax this past Friday improving to 2-0. One player from their squad we have yet to really evaluate talented linebacker Wesley Flamer Wesley Flamer 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Saint James Academy | 2027 State VA . He is a division 1 prospect with one offer from Bowling Green State last June. He debuted in our new rankings and will certainly see a bump when we update this class in December. Flamer was all over the Lions offense, obtaining 10 tacles , 2 sacks and a blocked punt for a safety. The Bulldogs may have been slept on a bit in many preview articles, they are playing good football.
