Leading the way for one of the most efficient offenses in Class 4A, Wes McLean Wes McLean 6'3" | 263 lbs | OL Orono | 2026 State MN was at the forefront of Orono’s offense en route to clinching the #1 seed in their section. Playing with a steady base, twitchy movements, and a great utilization of leverage, McLean is a very solid Left Tackle who has the fundamentals to play the role and could certainly fit the mold as a project player at the next level with some added size. Consistently able to drive defenders back in the run and kicking out wide in pass protection, McLean has equal success in both areas, and with that, Orono’s offense has had a lot of success in both fields this season. McLean has been a steady presence to watch, and a strong run in this postseason could really fuel his stock upward holding off the best of the best in this conference.

Wes is a 2026 offensive linemen that I have gotten a couple live evals on at camps this summer and I liked what I saw most at the SDSU prospect camp. I like the growth he has made since our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase, with his footwork, as I can gauge that there is a faster foot speed and more fluid steps out of his base that create more intriguing movement when he gets to the point of attack. There no doubt either that Wes has some violence at the point of attack, and even though he has a few offers he still is more under the radar than I thought he would be at this point in the summer.

At a verified 6’3+, 265 lbs. with room to grow, McLean was sturdy and balanced at the point of attack at the Combine Series, showing off a great base, comfort and effectiveness in pass protection, and some real fight and aggression, and he combined his hard work, varsity experience, coachability, and athleticism to a camp performance in Mankato with Minnesota State, earning an offer from OL coach Chad Henning and OC Ryan Schlichte. McLean has also earned an offer from Winona State, as well as a personal camp invite from the Purdue Boilermakers defensive analyst & safeties coach Ty Rocconi. He’ll be a popular name to follow during June’s chaotic summer camp szn.

McLean got a lot of love from coaches and writers alike today, and heading into his senior season, I think the future is bright for the Orono product. A muscular 270 pounds and a pair of long arms set him apart physically from a lot of his peers, but paired with his athleticism, he poses a serious threat to defenses. McLean was a grinder who fought tooth and nail every rep, and saw success both across positions and against a variety of pass-rushes. A high-GPA athlete with a towering ceiling, McLean is definitely an athlete to keep an eye out for in 2025.
