Ploog is a prime example of the highly coveted basketball player turned TE. At 6’6” 215 lbs. he’s got the size of a TE but moves like a WR. He’s a high ceiling prospect with a developing frame to add weight/strength as he matures. He runs well with good straight line speed to threaten the defense vertically while showing he can use his body control and coordination to track and adjust to the ball in the air. Love his leaping ability and concentration to go up and compete for the ball at the high point. Sees the ball into his hands and demonstrates he can make contested catches in traffic with defenders closing in. Was a 1,000 yard receiver as a junior adding 12 touchdowns on 61 receptions but still has tons of raw untapped potential to build on. Picked up 12 D1 offers from a variety of P4/G5 programs before committing to Washington in late June.

announced his commitment to Washington last week.
Ploog caught 61 passes for 1047 yards with 12 touchdowns in 12 games for Troy last season.
He was a MVP at the Under Armour Next All-American Camp this offseason. Ploog needs to add some size if he wants to be a blocker at the college level and he doesn’t have a lot of experience. But he is a very good route runner and can make contested catches.
Ploog also took visits to SMU, Arizona State, Utah and Cal. He is the seventh player from California in Washington’s 2025 recruiting class.

Ploog passes the eye test with his size and during one-on-ones very few defenders covered him well.
He high points the ball well and knows how to use his length to make catches when he is well-covered. His route running is good and made some tough catches look easy.

Like many TE’s Ploog comes from a basketball background bringing his athleticism and length to the football field. At 6’6” 210 lbs. he possesses great natural movement skills, body control, and coordination. Lined up mostly on the outside as a receiver to create a mismatch but is also effective as an inline TE that can attack all areas of the field and block. Can stretch the field and does a great job using his leaping ability to high point on jump balls. Natural ability to box out defenders and make a play on the ball at the catch point. Racked up 61 catches for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior but still has tons of raw ability and potential to build on as he develops. Recruitment has continued to rise since the beginning of the 2023 season and now holds 10 D1 offers with more on the way.

picked up a pair of offers from Washington State and Cal this week.
Ploog was one of the leaders in Orange County in receiving with 1,047 yards on 61 catches with 12 touchdowns.
He earned All-County honors from the OC Register. Ploog is up to seven offers now and I expect a few more to roll in from schools that need a tight end after the early signing day.
