King jumps on this list, partly due to performance, but a live evaluation of his physical frame and movement skills stood out. King already holds an offer from Wagner and has the body type and frame of a college safety. He shows good short-area burst and closing speed in space. In the specific game I saw him in, King did a really good job coming into the box, getting off blocks, and wrapping up as a tackler.
His midseason film does not have a ton of coverage reps, but from the few on tape and what I saw live – he is the type of player you bring down into the slot position and drop into hook/curl zones as opposed to a deep half or third, but he has the frame to compete in the box from that slot position.

King will be one of the main leaders of the secondary. He is long and athletic, King made some great plays on the ball last year during his first season with Curtis. He registered a couple of interceptions and showed good instincts as a defensive back. King was able to make some tackles as well and was one of the top defensive players for Curtis last season. He is expected to make an impact on both sides of the ball this upcoming season.

I am not sure if King is perhaps the best kept secret in the Big Central Conference or my personal choice for breakout player of the year for the conference, but King did more of what I have grown accustom to seeing. Simply put, at wide receiver King is an offensive star. From maybe the second play of North Plainfield’s opening drive, the Canucks went up top targeting King deep on a go route. This was a no-brainer automatic touchdown that opened the game’s scoring and fired up the sideline. King hauled in this pass by high pointing the ball so well that the pass was uncontested to the ground. He also runs fast routes with little wasted movement. Later in the evening King made a ridiculous, unbelievable spinning catch on another deep bomb. Like a ballerina, King leaped and high pointed the ball, caught it with his hands, while spinning his body away from the defender to shield their path to the ball. His momentum was taking him towards the sideline and out of bounds, but King had the presence of mind and body control to get both feet down.
