stood out as a true anchor in the middle of the defense. With his size and physical presence, he naturally took up a ton of space and made life difficult on anything working across the field, especially crossing routes that never seemed to find clean windows. That combination of size, awareness, and leadership gives him the ability to control the middle and set the tone for the entire defense.

is continued, living proof of this trend. Zysk cuts down space between himself and the ball carrier extremely well. He also showed that he is coachable. On one rep he closed in with too much lean – I caught it and so did his positional coach. After coach addressed it, Zysk seemed to break that habit. Lastly, there is some athleticism to Zysk’s game as well. He showed that he was able to cover a lot of ground quickly when he took his pass drop.
Although it appears that Tyler Zysk only played freshman ball last year at Hillsborough, his tape is very encouraging in what I would consider a natural mike backer. Zysk reads his keys very clearly and does not hesitate getting to the ball carrier. By and large the 2028 graduate takes very good angles to take down the runner. Well coached, we see Zysk take his diagnose steps to play the run and then take his drop. An excellent tackler, you can tell Zysk has been playing ball for a long time the way he leverages the Gator Roll tackling technique. Pursuit angles are a strong suit of his; however, more impressively he can quickly course-correct his path should he underestimate the speed of his opponent. Lastly, Zysk has some speed and can beat a runner to the sideline. The Raider’s run defense appears set for the next several seasons.
