Tyler is described in one word as a tough running back. Tyler showed good vision and patience against a big fast clarkston defense on Friday night. I was impressed with Tylers ability to fight through first contact and get good chunk yards. Tyler showed good speed and was able to out run a fast flowing defense to the pylon to score a big touch down for South Lyon. Friday was man first chance to see Tyler run live and I see him being an effective back at the next level. He is a workhorse and would be a player that colleges should take a serious look at.

Tyler is the definition of a bell cow running back. This senior tailback from south Lyon put up big numbers last year and I see a bigger year yet coming down the pipe this year. I really love the way Tyler runs behind his pads and falls forward at the end of his runs. I am also impressed with the way Tyler runs with excellent balance and stays patient and allows blocks to get setup before he hits the hole. Tyler also shows good one cut ability and does not dance around and give ground up. Tyler also shows good hands in the pass game and sets up screen passes beautifully then shows good vision setting up blocks. Keep an eye on Tyler and watch out for a big incoming season ahead.

The way that South Lyon uses Tyler is interesting, and it is very easy to see his versatility. Whether through the screen game, outside or inside the tackles, Newton is extremely productive. He possesses good vision and change of direction makes him extremely elusive. His breakaway speed and special acceleration allow him to turn good plays into explosives. When he runs into defenders, his good contact balance, allows him to absorb contact and keep moving, breaking arm tackles and taking advantage of out of position defenders. A great camp season could skyrocket his stock this spring.
