If there is a more versatile player in the state of Michigan I am yet to see them. Jacob is having an excellent year from an offensive stand point, a defensive standpoint and oh by the way has an absolute cannon of a right leg. Offensively Jacob is extremely effective carrying the rock and picking up tough yards. He also does an excellent job of laying blocks and springing his teammates for long runs. Defensively Jacob is a monster from his linebacker spot. He does a very good job flowing from side line to side line and arriving at the ball carrier with bad intentions. Jacob displays Very good instincts and react’s quickly to diagnose plays and make a play on the ball carrier. As a kicker it gets no better than Jacob. He routinely booms kicks out of the back of the end zone on kickoffs and has an extremely accurate leg on field goals. Jacob has range from 55 plus and does not shy away from a big moment. I am a massive fan of Jacobs and feel he has the skills to play any of the 3 position’s listed at the next level.
Jacob has a promising Sophomore season highlight tape. It’s already impressive to play legit Varsity minuites as a Sophomore, but it’s more impressive that he was able to stand out in a few key areas. First, I like how Jacob’s contact balance is developing. Not perfect yet, but he does a solid job of running through tackles and staying physical through his carries. Additionally, he does a nice job falling forward on his runs.
Defensively, Jacob’s physicality leads the way. Jacob isn’t afraid to lay the wood. There are moments where he makes a good read and reacts quickly, but that area does need more development.
A great offseason should propel Jacob to become a great Varsity player. South Lyon is coming off an amazing season as a program, and guys like Jacob will keep up the excellent success.
Jacob was an obvious new addition to the rankings, as he earned all-region honors as a kicker.
I also really like what he was able to do as a running back. Nothing too flashy, but a few instances of good contact balance and breakaway speed. 1:28 on his highlight tape is a nice display of just that. Sometimes, following your blocks and being able to shake off arm tackles works wonders. It worked wonders for Jacob this season, and I’m curious to see which parts of his game are upgraded throughout 2026.
