We currently have Tyler in the Watch List as a DB, but this season the senior has made an impact at RB. The senior has looked good carrying the ball between the tackles. He will lower his shoulders and churn his legs to pick up the tough, dirty yards. You can count on him to move the pile and run through tackles. Tyler has a well rounded game too. He has the agility and wiggle in those tight spaces to create room to pick up yards. Don’t sleep on the senior athlete.
Curtis is a rising senior who broke onto the scene last year, showing off his electric style of play at both corner back and running back. The 5’10, 170 lbs athlete plays with speed and physicality on both sides of the ball. At tail back, Curtis gets to the edge in a hurry and can outrun defenders in the open field. Between the tackles, he runs with low pad level and refuses to let one defender bring him down. Curtis shows off his smoothness at defensive back, as he can transition his hips quickly and has the speed to run with nearly any receiver. Keep an eye out for Curtis as he kicks off his senior season on Friday.
The 5’10” 175 lbs two way playmaker is electric to watch. We will start with his play on defense. Tyler is an aggressive CB who can press his receiver hard at the line, and then has the speed to be able to turn and run with them. He is just as aggressive at the catch point. Tyler has the explosiveness to be able to go up and attack the ball at the high point to break up passes. When he plays off coverage or in zone, Curtis does a good job of reading, and diagnosing plays then flying downhill to make the tackle. I’m a fan of him at CB.
On offense, Tyler does an impressive job running through arm tackles for his size. His balance through contact and lower body strength make it hard to get him off balance without wrapping him up or gang tackling him. He has the speed to take it the distance, and his agility allows him to pick through the trenches as he hunts for green grass. Take a look at the playmaker.
Mr. Curtis has foot quicks through the hole and once he gets through can use his burst to keep the chains moving. He almost broke a few long runs but got brought down last second by the last defender. This young man does have the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and he can break weak grab tackles by keeping his feet driving. This is exactly how he was able to get into the endzone for 6 in the 3rd. He also has potential as a corner where he came away with an interception to end the game in the 4th. Twitter
Mr. Curtis was on the Watch List coming into this fall season and after seeing his highlights below he’s going to crack into the rankings. What stands out the most about this young man is how effortless he makes it look to press receivers one on one on the outside and drive them off their route toward the sideline. He can also close quickly to secure open field tackles on the perimeter in the flat. His skill set is also seen on offense as a fullback putting his foot quicks on display to get through the line of scrimmage quickly. Not to mention he has the potential to be a deadly return man – need to see more in this area but the flashes are there. Twitter
