Burkley’s contributions on the defensive side of the ball had a lot to do with Lake Zurich’s defense allowing only 73 total points during the regular season. Burkley finished his senior season with 79 tackles, 4 ints, 2 FR, and 1 TD, but even those numbers can’t quantify his impact on the field. His versatility at the linebacker position is what separates him from most. He has good play recognition and can stuff the run with the best of them. His combination of size and athleticism enables him to excel in rushing the quarterback and he is more-than-reliable when dropping back in coverage. Burkley is essentially a complete linebacker who should be able to immediately help a team at the next level.
