Buchear is the most college-ready linebacker in the area, with projectable size and speed. He was excellent in nine games last year, averaging nearly nine tackles a game with 12 for loss. He improved his skill in pass coverage in man and with his zone I.Q. One of the top returning defenders in the area, Buchear should begin to see his recruitment take off in the coming months.

Buchear is an old-school run-stuffing linebacker, but a lot of that is out of necessity. He just doesn’t have a lot of film in pass coverage because he came from such a run-heavy conference last season. Realignment and the 2025 schedule ensures that Buchear and Lee County will face at least 3-4 capable passing offenses. That alone could give him the opportunity to prove he’s a complete linebacker.

Buchear is a physical, coachable linebacker who continues to grow each rep, and his performance showed promising upside heading into his junior season.
