has stepped up in a major way as the postseason heats up, providing toughness and production across the front. He’s become one of the most disruptive defenders on the roster, piling up 51 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, and 7 sacks, and his motor has shown up week after week. Mortakis also continues to handle the gritty assignments on offense, serving as a dependable blocker who helps anchor their ground game and opens up opportunities for the skill players around him.

will be a key piece to Wheeling Central’s spin series offense as a blocking tight end who is capable of being utilized in the passing game at times, too. He’s an underrated player for the Knights and does the dirty work on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

Wheeling Central Catholic | 2026 StateWV. He’s a valuable piece to their offensive success primarily as a run blocker, but he can make plays as a defensive end, too, on defense. H-back feels like his role at the next level, a spot where he’s worthy of some D2 looks. Mortakis rounds out our Top 10 of tight ends in his debut in the 2026 rankings.”

. He doesn’t have the length that Olejasz possesses, but he is a well-filled-out athlete. Mortakis likely translates as an H-Back at the next level as a blocking first type of player with enough athleticism to flare him out in the passing game at times. He’d be a great value add for a D3 program if he slips through the D2 cracks with DE/EDGE potential as well.
Our lone tight end on the list, Mortakis is only 6-foot-1 and 195-pounds so wide receiver may be his ultimate landing spot if he plays at the next level. That being said, Mortakis has a quality highlight tape around just two minutes. He’s a solid athlete and appears to have both good upper and lower body strength. Also shows upside on the defensive side of the ball where he plays defensive end though linebacker would be a more suitable role in our opinion at the collegiate level.
