was a game-wrecker for the Tigers’ defense. Holbrook plays with tough physicality, utilizing his bulky frame to it’s fullest potential, and it made it hard for anyone to run through him last year. Keeping his knees low and exploding off the snap, Holbrook is unstoppable once he breaks into the backfield, and his pursuit and tackling form is textbook. Holbrook is the unquestioned leader for the Tigers’ defense, and he will be a scary player for any offense to go against moving forward.

The Guillotine ranking – 4th 215AArnSpeaking of physical running – Holbrook doesn’t have the frame of a bruising runner, but his style of play – on both sides of the ball is all about physicality. As a running back, he is a force running between the tackles. He keeps his pads low and doesn’t give defenders much to hit other than shoulders and knees. He is a duel threat coming out of the backfield – catching passes both in the screen game and with routes deeper down the field. As a linebacker, Holbrook often stops the runner dead in his tracks when he squares up a ball carrier. When he reads the play and comes downhill toward the line of scrimmage, he quickly closes in on the runner – without any wasted steps.

heading to Augustana next fall, the reigns of the Tiger’s next big recruit seem to be passed to sophomore LB Tristan Holbrook, who comes in at #42 overall and as LB7. Also a stud wrestler who is 34-9 this current wrestling season at 170 lbs., Holbrook earned an All-District HM nod for his efforts on the gridiron in 2022 and looks fast and shows a nose for the football as a linebacker. Also popped off some solid runs as a RB and shows off a long frame that has a ton of room to continue filling out. Already a strong tackler, Holbrook is going to be a beast at the point of contact if he can put some real pounds on in the weight room. I’m excited to continue to follow him the rest of this wrestling season as well. Can’t go wrong with multi-sport standout Minnesota prospects.
