Tristan’s film from last season showed flashes of great QB play, vaulting him into the top 50 in the rankings! He’s a dual-threat QB that does his best work when he gets out of the pocket and stresses the defense with the threat of the run, but he also possesses the arm strength and accuracy to lay a beautiful ball in the bucket. I loved watching him throw the deep ball, but he also does a great job of making quick decisive throws on slants and outs. Flynn is on a nice trajectory as he heads into his sophomore season!

Tristan had a few really good throws that made me take notice. Early and often, he had great timing and was able to place the ball in a comfortable spot for his receiver.

-Great torque, gets the ball out with good power

-Good footwork and overall technique. A good work in progress that is absolutely on a good trajectory

-High effort, worked hard the whole event. Absolutely competitive and hard working.

I feel good about Tristan developing into a strong Varisty QB. This past season, Tristan showed a lot of promise, as demonstrated by his highlights.

Scheme-wise, Tristan typically played in the shotgun and earned opportunities in a lot of 4-WR sets. Needless to say, he’s in a very QB-friendly offense. The scheme translates to college very well.

As for his highlights, there’s a little bit of everything. The tape begins with a couple of deep balls, which is always nice to see. 0:26 is a turning point, as Tristan throws a well-timed slant into the endzone. 0:54 is another really nice highlight, showcasing patience outside of the pocket, and great touch to the back of the endzone.

Like all freshman prospects, there are plenty of areas to nitpick. Though that’s not what I’m here to do right now. Tristan showed that he can run a basic version of the Varsity offense, and as long as the IQ and mechanics keep improving, he’ll be a great West Michigan QB.

In short, Tristan was a solid, accurate QB. Mechanics and all-around throw power were a step behind the best of this group, but still undoubtedly above-average. I will say, Tristan was impressively accurate, especially considering his minor shortcomings regarding mechanics and throw power.

Absolutely on track to be an excellent Varsity player. Keep on workin’!
