The younger brother of Tulane running back Trey Cornist is just as strong as a prospect from Winton Woods. Flashing good vision and patience to follow blocks, the 6-foot-0, 190-pound tailback is shifty and makes the most of every carry. He is also a defender on kickoff coverage.

Tristan had a good Sophomore season. His good play was a bright spot in the 0-10 season of the Colerain Cardinals. He displays good lateral quickness and agility as he bounces the run to the outside and turns the corner. He exhibits good acceleration in the open field as he picks up a big gain. When running inside, he displays good vision as he finds the open hole with good burst as he accelerates into the secondary. He displays good contact balance as he keeps his feet moving on contact and finishes the run by falling forward for extra yardage.

Tristan is a fun watch on film. He played both running back and linebacker for the Cardinals. I like him as a linebacker in the future. He has some pretty special stuff when it comes to his speed and explosiveness from the middle linebacker position. Once he diagnoses a play, he fires like a missile. His speed down running lanes in pursuit is pretty special. He’s a strong tackler when he gets to the ball. He’s going to be a big weapon in the blitz game with his explosiveness. As most freshman, he has plenty of growing and getting stronger to do, but I expect to see Cornist do some pretty special things in the future.
