Traylen is a player I saw over the summer and came away very impressed with his game. Wanted to see him do it live in game and boy did he in his first varsity start for MSJ vs Seton Hall Prep (NJ) this past weekend. He played a key role in MSJ’s come from behind victory, making big play after big play. With multiple downfield catches and multiple TDs in the game, he was a dominate player out there. Traylen has excellent get off from the LOS. Can fight through press coverage and has immediate burst/acceleration off the snap. He tracks the ball very well, is quick to find & locate it and will go get it & high point the ball. He shows strong consistent hands, always catching the ball away from his body and snatches it out the air. He is a physical WR, fights through contact to make the catch. Shows impressive body control, putting himself in position to make the catch. Traylen is also excellent at winning 50/50 balls & can break through DB tackles for big gains.
Currently holding no offers, Traylen is going to be a name to know this season. Making a case for one of the top WRs in the area for 2029 class already, he will be a big time prospect in the area after this fall.

- During the 2023 AYF National Championship tournament I didn’t get a chance to watch the 12U Rosedale Cowboys as much as I wanted to, but I did take note of three prospects that stood out. Fast forward to 2024, now as 13U prospects, I noted more Cowboys that I liked but for consecutive years, it started with Traylen Johnson.
- From what I’m told, Johnson had an MVP-worthy performance in both the State Championship and Regional Championship rounds to help get the Cowboys down to AYF Nationals for the second year in a row.
- Physically, he passed the eye test right away. Put together very well with a lot of developed muscle already. Strong lower body was evident in the way he exploded when moving around the football field. Played Wide Receiver and Defensive Back, but really caught my eye on the offensive side of the ball. Was used in motion a decent amount. Really looked the part.
