Expert Analysis

Ball is a big, physical player who resembles the prototypical between-the-tackles linebacker. However, what makes him stand out is his ability to work in both big and small spaces. Although he is also big enough to take on many interior offensive linemen, he is agile enough to slide out of the way and avoid blockers. He moves well from sideline to sideline, allowing him to cover a lot of ground. Ball is solid in pass coverage, too – using good instincts and a quick first step to close on receivers. With over 100 tackles, his ability in that area is evident. He hits ball carriers and wraps them up. He is versatile as well – playing all the linebacker spots.

The Centennial Cougars have been churning out some monster LBs as of late, and 2024 6’1, 225 lber. Timmy Ball is another important part of the ’24 rankings updates loaded crop of linebackers, not to mention another great extension of Centennial recent LB legacy. Up seven spots to #62 overall, Ball was Class 6A’s second-leading tackler during 2022 and posted 107 tackles with 2 TFLs, a forced fumble, and two converted fake punt returns. Drake has been heavily in contact, as have a variety of NSIC institutions as well as Brown and St. Thomas, and #47 has done a great job of bettering and developing his game every offseason since he was a young freshman. Quick to the hole and strong when working over, under, or through blocking attempts, Ball can pursue and tackle out on the edge of the field and found success both around the box and out in space. Also laid some massive hits as a blocking TE and on special teams, and showed a knack for making clutch tackles behind the LOS in both goal line and 4th down situations. There’s a ton to like in the well-coached, well-built, and productive Metro ‘backer and will have a fruitful senior year as a three-sport captain and popular football recruit. Roll Cougs!

- Timmy plays the linebacker spot with some well-seen instincts when it comes down to using his downhill motor and vision-I especially liked his finding ability on his first clip against a wing-T offense which can sometimes be difficult to gauge who has the football.
- He also possesses the ideal stance I look for when evaluating linebackers and he doesn’t just look the part, as Timmy shows off a LB prospect that can engage from sideline to sideline with a plethora of physicality in his wheelhouse.
- You can tell that his football IQ is loaded up, as I always am intrigued even more by linebackers that use their read steps early like they know exactly where the ball is going. Timmy is also a high academic prospect with a 3.84 GPA and certainly looks like a LB prospect at 6’1 220 pounds that will play on Saturdays as he will be one to watch this summer at Midwest prospect camps college coaches.
